Soon to be Yaris owner, any advice on this price?

Hello,

I have browsing the forum for quite some time, and big thanks to everyone for posting.

I am ready to bite the bullet and buy a 2007 Yaris Hatchback at around 45,000km

It looks really new and it is certified. However the price is really high at $12,900 CANADIAN.

Does anyone know how much wiggle room I have to play with? I want to get it down to $10,500 or $11,000 MAX, is that possible? Anyone care to share their experience? Thanks!!!

i agree that sounds high, what are the options on the car?

Still, I just can't believe a 2007 is worth that much.

Well I actually never went to test drive the car yet. But I like how new it looks. If it drives fine, I will probably buy it, given its at an appropriate price. Just was wondering how much I can haggle.

just go in for a test drive, show you're interested, and leave. they'll call you back with a better offer.

Cars are like buses. If you miss out on this deal, there will be another coming. Check out a new car and see what that would be. Then ask yourself if $1,000-3,000 is worth the miles on the used car. Certified to me is meaningless. Ask for proof of actual oil changes.

Won't happen, not from a dealer. If you can get $12K (including admin$) + taxes you'd be doing good from them. KMs are really low for an '07 which is certainly a plus.

Keep in mind the OP is Canadian. That type of price comparison holds no water what-so-ever.

that is definitely a good idea. Test drive the car haggle with them, show you are interested, and then no matter how low they go leave. If they want to sell the car they will call you back with a better deal.

I don't know how much digging you've been doing on this forum, and not to scare you off, but...

This being a 2007 that you are looking at, you should be aware of two issues that often plague that model year.

1 - ABS sensors fail due to corrosion of the contacts

http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11533

2 - Voltage regulator on the alternator begins to fail due to corrosion of the contacts

Potential bargaining chips for you.

Save your money and buy new if you can swing it!!
This car is going on 5 years old, sounds like a lot of money for a 2007.
