Today was a nice day..

..so I decided to clean up the Yaris since it has been sitting for months on end in the garage. I tried to unlock my car with my remote, but it did not respond. So I tapped on my window to see if the alarm would go off, but nothing happened. I then went inside to try to start it, and it turns out that the battery is dead lol.

Any suggestions for a decent, lightweight battery? Or any kind of battery at all for that matter? (that is compatible with our car, obviously.)

Charge the battery and it will probably be fine for a while. The Yaris draws enough while sitting powered off to kill the battery in 2-3 weeks. For extended storage it's not a bad idea to either disconnect the battery or connect it to a maintenance charger.

Whoah.. thanks for clearing that up ctscott. I was checking up on my car every now and then and noticed the car having a hard time starting up around the 4th week of sitting. That makes a lot of sense now to me.

What you do you think about wiring in a battery kill switch to "disable" the battery while it sits? Would be easier than busting out tools each time to tighten and uptighten the battery terminal cable.

A battery disconnect switch is not a bad idea, especially if you have a strut bar making it hard to get the battery terminal off.

OK, sweet! I found a battery kill switch for not that much moola online. And yes, with a front strut bar, it would make things hell for me lol.

I love the big sparks when I need to take out the battery, they're pretty :D

Make sure the switch is somewhere out of the way, it would kinda suck to accidentally knock it while on the highway or something!
