I would go for a diesel if they introduce it here, they are more torquey longer lasting as they are built much stronger than Gas engines and they have much simpler mechanical system if you are into fixing it yourself.
Per my calculations, even with paying extra for the higher diesel you would save more than 5% on fuel expenses.
