FWIW.. I got the same K&N drop in filter (33-2360) in my Yaris.
It has one square corner as the one in the pic...... it's in upper right corner in the pic. However the airbox on my '09 does not have a matching square corner that it is supposed to key into. In fact thet stock paper filter that I took out also had one square corner that clearly was bent up as a result of it being forced into the round corner on the airbox. So, I just had to cut the square courner off the K&N with sissors and it fit perfectly. There are other "keys" on the filter and airbox so, even without the square corner, you can't put it in wrong. The cut off square corner actually will go towards the passenger side and to the rear. I mention this in case whoever buys this filter might have the same issue. I thought that I had the same issue on my '09, but it turns out I just had it in wrong. If you don't get the tab in the correct corner, it's really hard to close it, but it can be done.

Take my word for it...
Yes you can force it in just like the stock filter clearly was was at the factory but, there is no matching square corner on my stock airbox. |
