Opinion on Retrofit black or leave it chrome?
Hello everyone, I just got my halo retrofit from MI and would like to know what collour will look better. If anyone got pictures that they can post to share will be appreciated. I also have a absolutely red 09 yaris hb. If anyone got the same collour and year from me with retrofit with pictures will even be better! :)

I personally liked mine better when they were chrome because my car is already black, but if you want the best performance from them, you should paint them black. The headlight is deeper than the projector and it will bounce light off the inside edge if you leave it chrome.
I made a thread of rage that had pictures in it outlining the flare problem when you leave it chrome. You might actually be able to do the housings in red. That would be unique. Keep us posted and good luck on your retrofit. -C

Paint the "inside" surface of the headlight bowl black. It should prevent glare from flashing out away from your car sideways.

I left my projector housing unpainted, but you can paint them if you want. Just be sure to mask off the actual lens very VERY well. A matte finish of any color is going to be the best use. Most go with black because it's dark and is the generic headlight mod. Back before people were doing projector retrofits, they were just painting housings black or "smoking" them.
I wouldn't recommend a glossy finish because the point is to eliminate the reflective properties of the 'chrome' surface. A glossy finish would just colorize the surface without changing those properties. Any style of plastic spray paint will work fine. I used Krylon Technicolor for plastics in a matte black finish. It went on glossy and then dried matte. This is my car after I finished the whole project. Black signal cover, black housings, chrome projectors. -C
