At some point I would like to put front fenders with flares on her. When I am plowing snow, if I spin a front tire I spray a rooster tail of snow straight at the front seat on the side of the spin.

A linear actuator.....good idea.
Here's a shot of the way my flat bed dump is configured, BTW, I have found over the years that nothing seems to be required to keep the bed in the down position, gravity does just fine. I only secure the bed (with a chain binder under the frame) if I am carrying one of my 22' long by 10' wide solar arrays on the racks, they might devolup a little up force going down the road so I take no chances there! Of course a linear actuator will take care of that anyway. |

^^^^^ This. And at least one neighbor realizes that a wonderful part of that is how prepared he is. After Sandy, I wrote a post that Scott was probably more prepared for the storm than anyone in Connecticut except the military. Scott replied (I'm paraphrasing) that the wife in one of the neighboring families asked her husband why they didn't have a generator, because Scott has one for his family.

isn't that the definition of a good engineer? Or inventor? Or creator? I mean there is a reason why we call them the boring normal masses.
