Analog Speedometer instead Digital
Hello,
I have Yaris II D4D 2006. My speedometer is digital. My girlfriend have bought me on ebay analog speedometer from Yaris II 2011 petrol, it is a gift :) In spite the new speedometer has max 8000 RPM (in diesel it is max 6000 RPM) it indicates correct actual RPM (I have checked it on computer), it also indicates correct speed, correct fuel gauge, average fuel used, actual fuel used. Everything seems to be right BUT one thing is not correct. New speedometer doesn't show me that my engine is cold. It shows me all the time high engine coolant temperature indicator. I have tested it on cold and hot engine. It is possible to do any modifications (maybe in wires that are plugged to speedometer) to correct that temperature indications ? My old speedoneter from YII D4D (2006): 83800-0D690-D My new speedometer from YII petrol (2011): 83800-0DG10 My new speedometer 83800-0DG10 (engine is cold, sth about 6°C / 42°Fahrenheit): I was driving one hour and on new speedometer was still indicating "hot engine", it newer showed me cold engine indicator. Really sorry for my english language quality. Best Wishes From Poland, Sesjusz Last edited by Sesjusz; 01-20-2014 at 05:05 AM. |

It may be a CAN bus message difference, as the coolant sensor is a direct input to the ECM, which then tells the speedometer the coolant temperature by CAN bus message.

Thanks, how about analog speedometer from newer versions of yaris II D4D (2010-2011)? Will everything works well with older Yaris D4D 2006 ?

The parts catalog just shows the 83800-0DG60 analog speedometer for the 09 D4D. It doesn't list any analog ones for the 06-08. I would try that one.

Thank you, one question more, probably stupid:
Maybe I should calibrate (if it is possible) new speedometer with my Yaris ? :) I was looking how high and low temperature indicators work in my old digital speedometer (engine was cold): 1. First, when I push start engine then HIGH TEMPERATURE indicator lights for 4 seconds 2. Then, after 4 seconds, LOW TEMPERATURE indicator starts do light (and HIGH temp indicator goes off) In that new, analog speedometer it looks like speedometer can't switch from HIGH TEMPERATURE to LOW TEMPERATURE indicator. EDIT: Moments ago I have bought 83800-0DG40 analog speedometer from diesel. Postmen will be tomorrow. What are differences between 83800-0DG40 and 83800-0DG60 and 83800-0DG70 (highest price) ? :) There are any differences in viewing informations ? Which one should be better for me instead my old digital speedometer (83800-0D690) to have the same CAN interpretation ? 83800-0DG70: 83800-0DG40: Last edited by Sesjusz; 01-20-2014 at 05:45 AM. |

I think the new meter you bought thats for diesel should work better in your car.

The difference between 83800-0DG60 and 83800-0DG40 is that the 60 is intended for right hand drive Yaris and the 60 for left hand drive.
