Better FM reception with stock radio?

Any tips or tricks for better reception with the stock radio (short of installing a completely new antenna...)? Compared to my other car, the FM reception in my '07 sucks. I know the antenna is 'functioning' because if I unscrew the mast the reception becomes nil. Is there a longer mast that will screw in to the stock antenna base?

Theres universal fit aftermarket antennas. Check them out I seem to remember seeing some longer ones.

I once made an emergency antenna for my sons 08 wuth a coat hanger. You could make that as long as you like! BTW I think he still has it.

PS Im from Cobleskill.

thx bronsin- I'll search out a screw-in aftermarket.
How does the Yaris seem to hold up to the rigors of upstate NY winters?

Try getting an antenna from a FRS. I get better reception with the one I borrowed from my girlfriends.

Reception on mine is just fine with the antenna from a Honda S2000, and was fine with the OEM antenna, when I still had the black stock stereo.
