(2007 HB) Pontiac vs Polk 6.5 Speakers?

I'm looking to do a sound system upgrade on my 2007 3 door in the next week or so and need some advice. I am planning to upgrade to a new head unit and replace the two front speakers. Eventually I will replace the rear speakers and add a subwoofer (10 or 12 probably) to the trunk area.

I chatted w/ a rep from Crutchfield who recommended I get Polk DB615's for the front speakers. The guy who will be installing them for me is recommending that I go with Pioneer speakers instead. Does anyone here happen to have experience with both and would be able to describe the differences or pros/cons to each?

Also, any other tips for the sound upgrade are welcome. I listen to a wide range of styles anything from jazz, gospel, hip hop, rock, acoustic guitar solo, you name it (I am a musician myself).

Very happy with this stereo I had installed just last Saturday:

So This Just Happened

50 watts per channel max, something like 15 watts rms. Has some passive crossover functions. Brought the stock speakers to life. I think later on I'll get a low end and leave it be until the stocks go.

No experience with recent Polk or Pioneer speakers, but I've used Pioneer in the past and initial thoughts are I'd prefer them to Polk.

Thanks for the response. Nice deck by the way! How are you liking it so far? Do the touchscreen controls but you at all? I'm not sure but I think I would hate it in comparison to physical knobs or buttons.
