those amps aint heat sunk properly
theyre meant to be chassis bolted not just for proper grounding run em hard and long and the thermal cutoff switch will trip or youll burn em up dont ask how i know maybe its cold enough there to not be a problem |

Talking about my setup ? If so, the blue one on passenger side is a Samlex Pure Sine 1 000W inverter, continuous duty. It as a built in fan and thermal sensor to protect the unit (Samlex maker high-end/commercial duty products, this particular unit came from a cellphone data tech work truck). I only use it for short periods of time, aka microwave my lunch once in a while. It has enough air flow around it for the fan to do its job (I'm an electrician). The black one to the right is a SSL LoPro 8, 8" under seat powered subwoofer, with a heavy aluminum casing heatsink, very similar in design and shape to my inverter, but without a fan. It does have thermal sensor for the amplifier power part, although I don't think the subwoofer coil is protected since it's a entry-level product. Still it does have enough air around it (as mentioned before, at least 2" on top) and nothing around it just like pictured. It was getting hot for the first few days when new, but that was still when I had it sit on the carpet behind my seat, where my spare battery now is, and it was summer, so the air vent under my seat was blowing on it. After the first few days, it's been running cool ever since. I do check it periodically as well as my inverter for signs of heat (usually once a week and during/after extended use), because I am aware of how much heat these unit could generate and how well they need to dissipate it. Still, I don't need to run it hard to get a lot of bass, thanks to the way the deck is made. There's a lot more air under my deck and around the units than you could expect to get under a car seat where these units where designed for. Sorry for your loss. I had a smart one this morning.
![]() Guy parked right in front of my yard. I had to borrow another car to get to work. ![]() Then when I came home this afternoon, car was still there. Called the city, they wrote him a fine and the towing is on his way. My neighbors helped with the snowblower and cleaning up the place. ![]() ![]() ![]() And I wanted to switch back to my summer wheels tomorrow :/ Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Tapatalk |

Good grief.
For all I don't like about California, pics like that give some perspective. |
