Strategies for Reducing Engine Play
Hey All,
It seems like the motor mounts in my Yaris are made of silly putty. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, what modifications have you made to reduce the play without adding a ton of vibration? In the past I have filled motor mounts with window weld or similar, and added inserts. I imagine that would work just fine here as well, but I would like some input on which mounts make the biggest difference. I don't want to fill all of them on this car, and end up with tons of vibration, but I would like to be able to shift quickly without the engine rocking around like freebird is playing. I have also heard there is additional/better mounts off higher trim level/TRD Yaris I can get and add, but I can't find any concrete info on it. Thank you! Matt |

I bought 80A polyurethane from online and properly filled all my mounts (except for the passenger side fluid mount). I do have more nvh but I'm happy with it and it was easy to do. Just take a while to cure so your best bet is to buy new mounts and fill those then install.

What mounts are on a Yaris stock? I can't seem to find out if there is a dogbone on base model Yaris, or if that is only at the higher trim level.
If there is a dog bone, I would like to try filling that first. |

This is what i did for the rear mount. Cannot complain. There is some vibration but your passengers wouldn't be able to tell. The mount is still good up to this day.

Awesome! I imagine the 2012 has a similar rear mount? That would work perfect for my needs.
Thank you!! |

Other option is to take the stock bushing out of the dogbone and press it back in rotated 90°. Costs you nothing and you can always go back to the way it was if it shakes too much.
FYI the Yaris is a pretty rough little engine at idle. You will get a decent amount of vibration with stiffer mounts. |

This seems like the best option and something I'll likely do down the road when my poly dogbone gives out

I cut chunks of silicone couplers (for intake connections, etc) & jammed them into the voids of the torque mount & the trans mount.
for the fluid motor mount, I gutted it and filled the top and bottom with 60a urethane idle is noticeable but otherwise its not bad at all

For those who have more experience with porting, do you have any suggestions before I put this thing back together? |

I have the TRD engine and trans mount. I know Beatrush sells an upgraded dog bone mount
