Screwed up my cluster. Help?
Hey all...
So, I wanted to modify the LEDs in the cluster on my daughter's 2010. I was told by an acquaintance that the LEDs are just plug and play. As most of you probably know, this is incorrect. However, I bought some (incorrect) LEDs off of Amazon, and removed the cluster tonight. Upon seeing that the bulbs actually need some soldering (something that I am not prepared to undertake), I put everything back together. Unfortunately, the area that shows the fuel level/gear/trip odometer, while lit up, is blank (see attachment). Also, the speedometer needle no longer moves. I disassembled it all again and put it back together (the functional equivalent of turning it off and turning it back on again), but to no avail. So, before I continue taking it apart and putting it back together in the hopes that it will magically work... I was hoping that somebody smarter than me (which would be anybody reading this) might know something specific that I should be looking for/at. Otherwise, I suppose I'm headed to the dealership to plead stupidity and empty my wallet :\ Any help would be _greatly_ appreciated. Thanks! Charlie |

I take it is all securely pluged back in, did you disconnect the battery before removing the cluster ?
It could of just lost communication with the ecu, disconect the battery for 15-20 mins and let the ecu and bcm reset |

Battery disconnect didn't do it, unfortunately.
Took it apart again. Noticed a few pins (16 or so) behind the display. I don't believe that all of those pins were connected. In fact, a couple were bent. Carefully straightened 'em, ensured they were all connected, and now we're good. Well, mostly. Speedometer needle's off a bit. Will have to adjust that. But yeah... I just hadn't reassembled everything properly :\ |
