Yaris Hatchback 2018 vs 2011-2013 tailgate difference? (for spoiler)
Hey y'all,
I've recently looked into getting a roof spoiler for my 2018 Yaris hatchback (Ascent NCP130), and I'm only seeing ones (that I really like anyway) that only fit the 2008-2013 models or something like that. I've been doing some research before deciding on one but I can't help but wonder whether or not I can buy one that fits the older models (2017 and back) and install it on my 2018 Yaris. I've notice in photos that the tailgate for the Yaris going back to the 2011 model seems quite similar in length and dimensions to the 2018 model. So I was just wondering whether I can buy a spoiler for older models and finesse it to fit my 2018 Yaris, obviously because there aren't really any spoilers out there (besides the OEM) at all for the 2018 model. I'm from Australia so my options are pretty limited tbh. I'm basically looking for a spoiler like the 2018 GRMN (but I can't seem to know where to look smh): For reference, these were the spoilers that I was looking at (listed to fit 2010-2013 models): If these aren't viable/good options, what options/alternatives do you guys recommend? I'm open to knowing anything more about spoilers on the Yaris hatchbacks since I'm pretty new to this. Might possibly look into universal spoilers maybe? Thanks in advance. |

That red Yaris is a series 2. Yours is a series 3. I couldn't be sure without measuring them side hy side, but don't think the dimensions and shape arevthe same.

ahh i see, thanks for your reply. It's just odd that the sellers of that type of spoiler list models up to 2013 when there are 2 different series between 08 to 13. Oh well haha

Yes, there can be some confusion. The US market goes by "Model Year", and we use the manufacturing date. A new model introduced in 2012 would by the 2013 model in the US, but would be the 2012 model in Australia based on the build date stamped on the compliance plate.

ahh ok that makes sense. I actually did some digging and found a thread that makes use of a 2nd gen spoiler on a 3rd gen Yaris and I think I might just give it a shot. https://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=60383
