High-to-low converter
in a factory cd/mp3/wma head unit, there are no pre-outs. so, i have to use a high-to-low converter. my question is, how do i hook this converter? do i just solder or crimp it at the speaker wires and the converter itself? i've already ordered the sub, box, amp, and amp kit already. now i just need this converter. i'm planning on installing everything with my friend, but we've never dealt with a high-to-low converter before. any help's welcome. thanks guys.

i did a line output converter off the passenger left rear speaker and al my speakers work fine. The converter had 4 wires put the two + together and the two - together. Now splice them into the + and - on the speaker and bingo preamp outputs!

heh, change of plans, my friend bought a new deck and gave me his Clarion deck. i checked the box and manuals; it's possible to hook up an amp/sub, but i think i need to buy RCA extensions or something like that.
and the other thing is, it comes with an adapter, 13 pin i think. will that work with the existing harness? |

The adaptor you are talking about sounds like the leads for the deck. Do you mean the plug that plugs into the deck and has all the speaker and power wires on it? I think you'll probably need to buy a harness adaptor so you don't need to wreck your stock harness. Scosche makes them for cheap (under 20 for sure.) |

heh, his insurance company installed had it installed for him since the one before that was stolen. i know more about ICE than he does.
but yeah, i'm talking about the leads to the deck...just what i thought, i still need to get another adapter. i'm just going to go to Best Buy with the deck and see which fits. i don't want to have to splice into the OEM wires. |

that's nice looking...
hahaha...two RCA cables popped out of no where on the deck. the Best Buy people didn't see them either. hahaha, i wonder where they were tucked behind. so i have 6 RCA cables. yes, plug and play. hehe. |
