Things start to even out by the quarter mile, and by the time these cars hit 100 (wait for it'and then wait some more), the Versa edges ahead with a 25.5-sec. run, beating the Yaris by 0.2 sec. and the Fit, which feels dead-slow at that speed, by 2.1 sec. Although none of them will set your hair on fire with speed, all three are quicker than the Toyota Prius, Honda Civic Hybrid, Scion xB and Volkswagen Jetta 2.5.

My question: Does the '09 Fit actually accelerate better than the '08 Fit?

Yes, it's a slightly bigger engine now. I have no idea about the 0-60 time, (not important to me) but the 2008 Phit was only a half-second faster than the Yaris...not exactly "smoking". Also, these tests were done on cars w/ MT...I have AT in both my 2007 Yaris and my 2009 Phit.

Marginally. Although it's longer, wider, and safer, the actual weight gain (correct me if I'm wrong) is about 50lbs.

Does the '09 Fit now have a DOHC instead of the old SOHC engine? That might help its power band to expand a bit.

I'm not so sure I'm a zealot or a fanatic. I'm very very happy with my new Phit Sport, and very very happy with our new President. (After eight loooong years with the worst and most unintellectual President in US history, who wouldn't be happy with a brilliant man [soon-to-be] in office...?)
