I'm reeling. I took my ASVAB yesterday and got a 99. ROFL. I basically tested into every job in the services. I could do anything.

Wow, great job Charles.

I'm going to school in a little while to go to an hour session of "welding basics" then studying for a big exam I have next week. Later tonight heading to a school basketball game.

I don't know yet. I am toying with the idea of going nuke in the Navy, but I have read some horror stories about the difficulty of the program. It is basically a 36 month, postgraduate-level crash course in operating a nuclear reactor. Now that I tested, I am going to have to take a closer look at some of the other careers in the Navy/Air Force.

A lot of those guys get great jobs in the power industry after service, I've also heard it's quite tough but you'd have some great opportunities once out as well.

Husband was a Navy nuke on submarines. That's how we got to spend 3 1/2 years in Hawaii.

Youngest daughter is seeing a guy studying to be a Navy nuke. I think he's going the carrier route though.

Does take a long time, is hard as there is lots of schooling, got paid more money for it though and gives you some usable skills when you get out.

Hey....it's good you have choices..do a lot of research about how what you learn in whichever branch will translate to career options after. You'll be set.

Yeah, I'm hearing nukes make a ton of money whether they're in or out, but especially when they're out.

If anyone knows anyone who actually went to the nuclear power school in South Carolina and would be kind enough to put me in contact, I'd appreciate it.
