It dropped 8 cents today at my local Chevron. Went from 2.29 to 2.21.

Anybody reading about the "pirates" off the coast of Somalia holding $1-2 million worth of crude oil on tankers today?

Also, OPEC is planning on cutting oil exports by 0.5 to 3 MBB/day...

went down again in my area now its $2.02 :). Has anyone ever wondered why the prices are going down and if this is just temporary... cause the economy is still in shambles and they refuse to say that we are in a recession even tho we are and all the world leading powers have also declared the same.

Meh, you'd have to look at the latest GDP results to get a clear picture of if we are and if we're not. last time I looked was back in October, not too sure what it is now. I'll say this, if minimum wage goes up, you'll see more andmore jobs cut and then we'll see more of a resession. Ok backon topic. The prices this low won't stay here so enjoy it for now, but expect it to go back up

Oil prices are dropping because the markets were way over-leveraged and demand figures were overinflated. Speculators were buying oil futures with money that did not exist, but were able to sell off the futures just before they would have had to take actual delivery of the oil, thus making a profit. Now that the world's economies have basically shut down, there are no more secondary buyers for these futures, so speculators aren't actually bidding them up anymore.
Add to that lower demand worldwide, and you have a crashing oil price.

I think it will drop to the mid $30's/barrel by Febuary, and then go back up and stabilize around $55-60 bucks by next summer.

IMHO worth driving a few miles out of my way for

BTW, the first 2 are right down the street from each other and also in heated competition right now, so the customer always wins. Local Yaris owners win even more

Filled up for $1.799 tonight, but I have seen it a few cents cheaper on the other side of town.
