The battle of the Droids??!

Went to a Sprint store in my area, there's 50+ people on the waiting list for an Evo o_O
ended up getting an HTC HD2 from T-Mobile.

To further complicate things, the Motorola Droid X comes out next month. It's comparable to the EVO with a 4.3" screen and similar hardware. Then there's the Motorola Droid 2 coming in August which isn't as extreme as the X but basically an updated version of the current Droid (same body but with new keyboard and specs).

I want the Droid X!!!

You should take advantage of the 30 day return policy and just keep buying-returning until you get the phone that you want :D

Is that in the browser or across the OS? I've noticed that when you scroll down through the apps, sometimes it gets stuck and you have to scroll the other way to get it going again (2 different units, same problem ). Also, in the browser, sometimes, you can't zoom at all whether you tap or pinch zoom, nothing happens. but I'm not sure if that's the browser or some of those sites running a script that doesn't play well with the phone's software. Yeah, rebooting is always a good idea.. when all else fails

Yup I saw that
those will come to VZW in the US. If they're anything like the Motorola Droid, they're gonna be great units!

And they also announced the Samsung Galaxy S (with a physical qwerty KB) on Sprint today, too. First high-end android phone with KB (besides the Moto Droid). About time, too !!!

yup, sold out everywhere.

You got a phone with TMo? Congratulations!! They're a great company. Not to mention if you ever travel, you can just swap the SIMM cards and keep using your phone.

I saw that TK. I actually literally *saw* it on a unit.

The fact that the phone doesn't operate as well when not grounded is not a big deal IMO since you can resolve the problem by just putting your finger on the phone.

The screen "coming unglued" could be a bigger problem. Although, if you keep your phone in a case like otterbox or something similar, it should go a considerable way towards keeping your phone in the best possible shape.

What I have noticed so far is a little bit of light leakage under the capacitive buttons, same as all the reviewers. That doesn't mean the phone is coming apart, but who knows. So much for being an early adopter

One of them, however, MUST go back tomorrow night at the latest

And to be honest, I still don't know which one is going back.

I've obtained RMA's and everything, got my shipping supplies ready, backed up my data .. but ...

there isn't one device substantially superior to the other IMO. Yes, the EVO has better specs (more ROM, a bigger screen) but as soon as I think I've made up my mind, I discover a feature that doesn't work as well as it does on the N1 or whatever.

Maybe you guys should make the decision.

the problem only happens on the keyboard so across the OS... if i try to hit delete it thinks i hit L or :-)... but i leave the phone on 24 hours a day... reboot and works great again... i have had problems with the pinch zoom but its pretty rare and only happens on google maps (it zooms in and out really fast) as for the browser i havent had that problem ... google voice is pretty cool... all your voice mail has a transcript with google voice

Joey, when you are at the google splash page, can you pinch/zoom or +/- zoom the page? Mine is stuck. Can't zoom the search results either. (EVO surfs the net perfectly, even shows you ads and stuff that N1 doesn't (on 2.1)

Maybe that's why Froyo includes "browser updates"

One thing that worries me about the EVO is that you're still limited to the phone's internal memory to store apps until Froyo comes out (unless you root? but that's not for the faint of the heart), and that's probably not gonna be for months. Internal phone memory is about the same as the N1.

no you can't zoom in on a mobile web page... on a normal web page you can... if u go to the google mobile search page u can click classic and u can zoom in after that... the 2.2 OS update (which will come out in a month or two for the N1 first) has flash support so all the ads should show after that... if ur worried about internal memory N1 does allow you to use a bigger memory stick... unless ur talking about the built in memory
