Okay, I posted a few pictures in my garage. You can see how slim the tach is and I even snapped a picture with my storage box door open.

Thanks for the pics. That helps me out alot. I like the placement. Are there 4 wires? Looks pretty simple. Did you pull that steering column to mount the tach with screws/bolts?
Again, thanks for the help. Chuck

DIY
First remove:
2 screws in the front of the steering wheel. Turn the steering wheel and you will see the screws. (DO NOT REMOVE THE HORN COVER, TURN THE WHEEL AND YOU WILL FIND THEM) You will find 3 screws at the bottom of the steering column that hold the plastic cover. After removing the 3 screws you can pull the plastic top/bottom part of the steering column and install you new tach. You can also pull you wiring nicely behind the dashboard. 4 wires, 1. Black, ground wire 2. Red main power wire 3. White tach light wire 4. Green RPM signal wire 1. I attached the ground inside the driver side kick panel. 2 and 3. I attached the red power/white light wire to the primary stereo power line 4. I attached the green RPM signal wire in to the ECU wiring block under the driver side dashboard. Its the most left wire in the connector block. This is the connector block that the ScangaugeII guys use. It's pretty easy. You could decide to attached the white light wire to the dimmer on the driver side but, I didn't really mind having the light on in the tach 24/7. Hopefully that helps. RwSeattle. |

rwseattle,
Thanks, I actually like the way yours looks better, but I use my storage box, so I was unable to use the Autometer tach.

I'm pretty sure it is 6,500. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I like it. It reminds me of the Tachometer in a MINI Cooper.

I hate micro fuses
So I have had the car for 4 days and decided to install a tach. Well me and my friend did everything in about ten minutes and then spent a half an hour pulling out a fuse! Haha Im gonna buy some real small pullers! The tach looks great and is 100% accurate though so I'm a happy camper. I didn't realize gears12 and 3 were so big and 4-5 so small. Sweet.
