Those look great! I can't wait for them to stock other colors. I'm thinking of going with blue all around except in the trunk where I'll use the clear ones.

Question- Does the lighting fade out after you close the door with the new bulb upgrade? Also- is the light overbearing?

The fader on the dome light still works with the HiLED.

Which light are you having trouble getting at jimcat?

To open the dome light, just pry it open (carefully) with a small flat bladed screwdriver.

The maplight opens the same way - with a screwdriver blade at the side - pry it down and it swivels toward the middle - then you just pop it off the two pivot points.

Hello all,
I wouldn't say the white maplights are overbearing. Afterall, maplights are designed to help you read a map. So, they should be bright.
We do have the maplights (194s) available in blue, red, green and amber. However, white is going to be the brightest.
LEDs do work with faders. The voltage level controls the light output. HiLEDs do have circuit protection. So, at a certain point, an increase of voltage will not make it brighter and burn it out.

The stockers are already way too bright to be in your eyes IMO... they detract from vision at night, defeats the purpose... they really need to be more directional/focused.

Kind of a mixed bag.

Here's the HiLED (on right) compared to a PIAA Super LED:

You can see the HiLED is many times brighter.

Here it is compared to the stock bulb:

The stock bulb is brighter and spreads better. The HiLED is a much nicer color though. I think I like it better.

The big improvement was in using the PCB-Dome light bulbs in my footwell lights:

Before:

After:

The disappointment was in the hatch light. The festoon fit in there, but I had to angle it to get it in. Only about half of the light gets thrown into the hatch area. It was brighter with the stock bulb. I can't see any way to modify the housing to get a better fit.
