Ethanol has less BTUs (energy) per gallon than gas so it's less efficient . Here's a chart of energy values for different gas formulations: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline_gallon_equivalent |

A molecule of gasoline is a molecule of gasoline. I don't even trust one major brand over another. The last big gasoline contamination event I can remember happened with Shell. In whatever car you drive, just use whatever the owner's manual says. If the engine doesn't ping, it's fine.

The engineers who designed the engine specify somewhere in the owners manual what type of fuel they designed the car to run on.
I'll follow their advice. |

All of our premium here is 10% ethanol so its the all the same. There is ONE sation I can by non-mixed prem from, but its a ton of money (like $.25 more per gallon)

on the topic of fuel.. do fuel system cleaners (the kind you dump into your tank) help at all? I didn't want to search it myself because I'd get a lot of unprofessional answers and bad opinions elsewhere.

I avoid old worn down gas stations with dirt and mud all over their pumps. Also, if I know a gas station has a gross restroom, I pass it for the pretty restrooms.

i used to do premium all the time but been filling up with regular for the past 2 months no problems and no difference really, i think im getting 20 miles more a fill up it feels like, i usually get to the last bar at around 320 miles total on a full tank with the regular i been getting around 340-350 until it hits the last bar on a full tank of regular, plus these prices are expensive now so premium was no good for me no more.

The higher the octane the harder the fuel is to combust. The measurements are silly complicated and there are two scales, but that is the basic jist. And while they say putting in higher octane gas on normal cars don't do anything, it is interesting to note all cars and manufacturers use 93 octane on the tests to get the numbers. Of course whether or not the difference is worth it is up to you. I don't think it is.
