I just paid 2.81 9/10 on 12/16 (lowest credit card price in our metro North of I-10 on that day). The cheapest in our metro on 12/16 (and right now) is 2.68 9/10 in League City (about 50 miles south of me) at both HEB and MurphyUSA/Wal-Mart. I heard the price is about 3.97 9/10 though in Hawaii.

We are looking at $0.97 per liter here in Edmonton. Probably the cheapest in Canada. That would work out to about $3.68 per US Gallon but I may be wrong.

In New Orleans I saw quite a few stations running at $2.97 today, pretty nice.

I'll bet proximity to production helps re the price for all 3 of us (posts #19, #20, and #21). Around our metro, League City is pretty close to a few refineries and other often inexpensive gas locales (Friendswood and Alvin) are fairly close by. I also found the same to be true in high-tax California.
Taxes sometimes play an even bigger role. Look at New Jersey vs New York and Connecticut. Also, South Carolina often has some of if not the cheapest gas, and there aren't any refineries in South Carolina. |

UPDATE:
752.2 miles door to door 4 Stops - Twice for Gasoline, first at the midway point, 2nd at the end. Trip running time - 12 hrs. 46 min. (included a drive through at Mac's for coffee and b-fast) Started with a full tank stopped midway through put in 9.78 gals. Stopped again .5 mile my from final destination put in 9.329 gals 752.2/19.109=39.36 mpg. Will post some overcast, and highway pics soon. UltraGauge had me at 41.2 for the trip, but I know that that is based on 11.1 gal at full when in fact it can be 11.6 or even more at the first click. It has always registered 1-2 mpg more than the pump actual, (which Is really the only thing I go by). The temps were moderate for mid-december started in the low 30's at 2 AM in SE Massachusetts and wound up in low 50's near Columbus. Was overcast whole trip and only once a brief rain event otherwise roads were dry. Returning Thursday, when the weather is forecast to be mix of rain/sleet/snow etc. Gas on the road was 3.39/gal. Here outside Columbus in 7 days it has been 3.25, 2.99, 3.07 currently 3.19 gal. Happy Holidays. |

I hope those of you who are experiencing significant wind today aren't experiencing power outages. I celebrated Christmas last night with a group of friends who 80% or so (like me) have no family in Texas. Because the remaining percentage do, Christmas Eve was chosen for the celebration. About 10 minutes after I awakened this morning, my power went out. I waited for about 2 hours for it to come back on (it didn't), then headed to Starbucks (internet and food). Just a few minutes ago, I spoke with another customer here who just drove through the traffic light closest to my house and he said it is still out. Argh. Another customer and his wife told me they got stuck on a road earlier today (pretty far from my house) because a big tree had blown over onto the road. Actually, I really feel bad for neighbors who are having gatherings and might not have generators. At least the temperature is in the high 60s (F), and the sky is quite blue now (it was raining when I awakened this morning). Happy Holidays to all! In So-Cal if I drive to achieve maximum MPG on the freeway (uh, "slow enough to") I'd be ticketed for obstructing traffic

LOL. I lived in Orange County for 6 1/2 years and spent time all over (San Diego, Riverside, Los Angeles, Orange, and Santa Barbara Counties) and....you are, to a large extent, correct .

Bronsin I was doing locked in cruise control 62 when speed limit was 65 and 55 when posted 55, I didn't exceed speed limits, actually the ultraGauge trip function I believe had me at an avg. speed for the trip at 58 and change mph. I had the CC on ALWAYS.
There was no traffic, I mean none, zero, zilch, nada anywhwere and I mean anywhere along this trip. Nothing in New Haven, NJ, PA NONE. I doubt I will ever be that lucky again. Returning Thursday AM. Snowstorm coming through here tonight through tmrw PM. Will see how that goes. |

At 85 indicated I get 34 mpg with my automatic. ~65 indicated I get ~40 mpg.
Im thinking for this trip I will set cc to 65. Trip is next Sunday. 240 miles Philly to Cobl;eskill NY. I do not often get to drive the car long distance non stop! Looking forward to it!

38-40 psi is the only range I like. I wish I could stand a psi closer to my tire max (44), but when I go over 40 I feel like I'm constantly driving on bricks. Each person has their own preference, as the tire max (or even 20 percent over) is just fine to some people.

Making it through the winters up there driving (especially when you have to drive to get to work ----instead of using public transportation) I have to give all of you who have to do that a lot of credit. I could drive and live with a 105 degree heat index 365 days a year. I could also live in an area where it snows all the time during the winter if I didn't HAVE to drive, but I couldn't live in an area with snow and snow on the ground all winter if I also HAD to drive daily during the 'snow season'. Also, FYI -- I picked up a Dallas TV station last night (previously unaware this station was part of my cable tier) and a traffic reporter mentioned that salt is used on the roads in Dallas...so It's not just in the most northern states (if I remember correctly which areas use salt and which don't was bart of the discussion on one or more threads re the 'Bolt T.S.B.'). |

Running my winter snows at 35 psi all around.
Just stopped snowing here got about 4-6 inches, the worst part of the trip home tmrw. will the the first few hours till I get into PA, leaving at 0400 hrs. Anyone who has read any of my posts knows I like to try to squeeze every mile out of this little egg. No excessive speeds, CC on all the time, never touching the brake if possible, rolling to stop signs and lights. I can live with 39 mpg this trip NP, and in the winter if I can get 36-38 conbined I can live with that. I mean really, I don't think I could have done much better on the way out, no traffic etc. Weather conditions tmrw, plus picking up my brother in NJ mid afternoon, I'll be happy if I can get 35-36 mpg. BTW-I stopped at Cabela's on the way out and got a Ragg Wool Sweater on sale for 17.99 + tax. |
