There's a lot more to cars than total HP.
Exactly, and we're only talking about a difference of 4 HP here anyway. Another factor in addition to weight and those mentioned above (VVT-i, etc.) is torque.

Heck, I wish I could have purchased the smaller 1.3 L engine that they get in Europe! I don't need more power, the car is more than powerful enough!

I'll trade

Oh and I so rarely enter these threads trashing other cars, but seriously....the Kia Rio is so shit. Before I bought the Yaris I rented a Rio. Re-Sale value is indeed bad like someone mentioned, and by next year the Rio will look outdated. It just doesnt have style.

I had a rio 5 door. It trashed the Yaris in a roden-track comparison, as did the Nissan versa (the fit won). Rio is a MUCH better handling car with better interior fit and finish than the Yaris. I thought the engine was weak - and mine started "knocking' after 1 day of conservative driving. So I dont like Korean engines after my experience with 1 sample I would like to put the Yaris 1.5L in the Rio - or maybe the 1.8L - then I could have best of both worlds

I test drove the Rio5, and liked it. IT came with a lot of standard features and an outstanding warranty. I, however, did not like the engine/drivetrain as much as the Yaris, which is why I bought the Yaris. Hyundai and Kia have moved up the ranks quite a bit in quality and such. I think it's a decent vehicle. The older Rios, on the other hand, were pretty tinny.

It's funny everyone wants more HP until gas hits $4/gal, then everyone wants mpgs... how quickly we forget.

Korean cars can't be compared to Toyota !!!

Try to sell a used Korean car and see what you get for it....ha

Toyota's keep their value much longer and are way more reliable.

I don't know about resale, but when my Hyundai Elantra GT was totalled by a red-light-runner the insurance paid me what I paid for the car new even though it had 20k miles on it and was over a year old. Apparently they thougth that was its value.

I was very impressed with the Rio5, especially the interior. However, I liked the engine on the Yaris better, and the fact that there's more aftermarket support. The Rio is now a decent subcompact.
