Nice link.

Notice it says september 2010 in Japan. Toyota (and Honda etc) usually get the kinks out of their new products before selling them in their North American market. They place an extremely high priority on minimizing possible issues for us to reduce bad press or loss of customer loyality.

You won't see those cars here until 2011 and we may not see that new 1.33l engine either, but that would be a huge mistake on their part. One way foreign companies keep the prices down for us cheapskates is by limiting our options and engine selection is one area which this practice is obvious. The Yaris in Japan has had start stop technology, nav systems, 1.0 engine options etc for years.

I'm really interested to see if they employ any of the manufacturing techniques developed for the new iQ in the Yaris as they said they would.

"Body size is more bigger than current overall."

Grammatically correct, not so much... But it makes me glad I bought THIS one; the Yaris is already more bigger than my Swift and plenty big enough!

About this TOYOTOA AYGO... What are its dimensions? Looked it up on the web, but I don't speak metric. Is it smaller or larger than the current Yaris?

Drat; should've waited...

Now I'm upset. Wanted the absolutely smallest car I could find (but safer than the Smart Twofer), and NOW Toyota comes out with a smaller model... Grrrrr! So what do we know about the Aygo??? Guess I can always trade in the Yaris for one later...

Well just bought her

A Black 5 dr Hatchback
With

Power Package, Keyless Entry, Cold Weather Package, Cruise Control, Convenience package, floor mats. Think thats everything.

Before TTL I paid $15,177. A little below invoice.

However after all was said and done the car was 16000 OTD
$500 Rebate
with $1081 just in tax
with 5.9 % x 60 mo
and $2,500 down.

Plan to have the car paid off in 3 years.

I was actually at the dealership, on the phone with two other dealerships stating they could not beat that price, but would throw in the floor mats and match it.

I told my salesman that and he threw in the floor mats.

First new car purchase and probably my last. Not worth the hassle.

Cant wait to break in the micro machine!

Any suggestions what play with first? Increase fuel mileage or make it a lil zippier w/out losing any MPG

There is another post about 0% for 36 months. If you are planning on paying off the car is 3 years maybe Toyota will redo the financing for you.

I'm assuming the Aygo is the same as the IQ, or are these different models?

The only factor that would deter me from an Aygo (in favor of a Yaris) is whether or not I could fit my kayak and/or bike in the hatchback. But it appears the Aygo/IQ gets much better gas mileage, since it IS smaller...

The three door model also has 60/40 folding rear seat, but that isn't very convenient with a little baby that can't jump in through the hatch like the puppy. :-) My kids are big enough to get in and out by themselves and they like the two door.

What is this someone said about the 1.33 liter engine. I really don't care about performance. As long as it can do 75-80 max on the highway and get me on the road merging I am happy (and hoping for 35 mpg average)
I wanted a 1.3 L engine and this is the first I've heard about it coming to NA. Our average (heavily weighted to highway miles) has been about 38.5 MPG for all tanks so far.

Got a written quote from the dealer for $15,671 out the doorwhich included Power windows, locks, cold weather package, air, and all the good stuff.

I saw some talk here regarding an updated 2010 model coming out later this year that improves on the car (mileage and anything else?). Does anyone have any info on this, or if it is true. Is it worth waiting?

Also I read on Jalopnik that toyota will be offering larger rebates on its cars. Currently in Illinois, the rebate is only $500 and for recent college grad...anyone think it will go lower?

Thanks for your help and enjoy reading about all of your love for these little cars.

Here's what I did. Go to Carmax.com and find out what they are selling a new Yaris for. Then print out their price and ask you Toyota dealer if they will match it. I got mine for $14,898 and it has almost every option.

Only deal by email....never by phone or person. Never allow them to tell you know...just email them and attach or list the link for the car at carmax and they will call you to match or even beat carmax's price.

Congrats! Good move on not waiting because the 2010 will be unchanged for the most part (Toyota just refreshed it for '09 - more standard safety, new bumpers, ect..).

Don't expect an all new Yaris until the 2011/2012 model year.

Agreed. Why do they keep insisting on making the cars bigger and bigger? Pisses me off. If I had wanted a bigger car, I would've gotten the Corolla in the first place. The whole reason I got my Yaris was it was the smallest (read: lightest weight) 2-door car I could find here in the States that I could shove my kids in the back. I'm glad I got mine before they make them bigger.

I don't know if I'd fit in any smaller, but I could easily go with a 1.0l engine.
