BRILLIANT.

I have no idea why I didn't think of that! The other day I was mid-way through changing the oil, and couldn't find my baggy of crush filters! This is the third (and thankfully) last time I will use that one, now that's a brilliant place to store them!

THAT'S what that's for...

Yeah, I can put just quarters in there, but then why have three separate divided compartments for one denomination? I can tell I'm the only poster here with a logical mind.

My Swift was the 2000 hatch; silver. Can been seen on used cars.com (not the actual car, but a reasonable facsimile, including interior shots). Loved it.

Why Yaris? Toyota reliability and smallest car out there other than Twofer.
I test-drove it; I didn't live in it for a week. Upon closer examination, eh...

Hmm... yeah, that comment should go over real well.

I have to agree on one point, though, the interior of the Swift 200 looks a little more streamlined, visibility all around is good, size is truly sub-compact. but now I wonder why you sold it? You said it you had to. Why? Well built cars last a lot longer than 9 years. If it was already starting to ask for major repairs, then it couldn't have been such a well built car.

...
http://usedcars.com/powersearch.aspx

The Swift isn't even an option on Suzuki's model list! lol

Anyway....

Found a listing on AutoTrader and finally came up with an interior photo of the beloved Swift. Notice all the cupholders, compartments, ect... Also notice how the hatch opens by itself when it senses your presence and also how the passenger airbag will go off even with no passenger because it doesn't have that pesky sensor. Yes, the perfect little car!

Sorry to beat up on you Otterhere (is it supposed to be "Outtahere"), but your complaints are pretty silly. Reminds me to much of "Caveatipse" who got banned more times than we can count.

Such a logical mind that you purchased a great little car, good fuel economy, Toyota reliabililty and low price. Glad you used your logical mind to purchase such a GREAT car.

I think the world you were looking for there is anal

But seriously, I don't know if you're continuing this thread out of a real want to discuss these nitpicks, or just to bring some comic relief to our forum

But, I think I can now safely say that Suzuki completely missed the following marketing approach:

"Suzuki Swift: The OCD car of choice!"

Actually I will actually add one related nitpick of my own about the coin holders and that glovebox in general, it's kinda hard to see in there at night and pick out the right coins (even if they are properly arranged in each compartment). But like somebody mentioned about this in an old thread, it's not exactly difficult to stretch one's hand above one's head and click the cabin/map light, thereby offering sufficient illumination

The triangular pockets on each side of the AC controls? I can fit my cell phone in there no problem, though I usually just have a small LED flashlight as well as a piece of cloth for dusting stuff, and a microfiber cloth for my glasses. On the other side, the remote control for the house gate fits perfectly so I don't have to dig around for it, just stick my hand in and press the button.

The little flip-down cover by the steering column, though, just gets shoved with whatever receipts and wrappers I want to keep out of sight

What I'm trying to say, really, is, you should try to find ways to make practical use of all these nooks and crannies! If you open your mind and stop to think about it, the interior of this car is very cleverly designed, many other cars can only dream of being so practical. Whatever nitpick you have, whatever "oh i wish they did this differently" thought, there's often a way to figure out some improved solution. Heck look at the Canadian guy who glued together a couple of hockey pucks to make a steady base for his GPS unit to put in a cupholder!

Sometimes having a versatile mind can be better than a logical mind

Now, that's a great idea!!
Somebody should start a thread for that kind of non-technical ideas if there isn't one already

Glad I made a difference.

When my dad had the '83 Celica, he would leave a funnel tucked behind the battery for whenever he had to add a quart of oil or something. IDK, somehow he thought that was better than fixing the damn leak. LOL!

Everything you complained about is the case with every car (although coin holders are always different-and many cars don't have them at all).

If you want a perfect car, get a $110,000 Lexus LS600hL for god sakes.

lol that was my first thought too. I don't even keep more than a few nickels and dimes in there either. The rest are quarters.

If this is such a big deal to you all, just keep your coins in your pocket

If you do not usually have passengers and like to put things on the passenger front seat, permanently keep the passenger seat belt buckled..then the only beeping will be the drivers, until he/she buckles up.
Enjoy the Yaris for a good economical car that it is.

I don't normally put anything in the seats because nothing tends to stay there while driving. One reason I like a hatchback is the ease of loading and unloading stuff like grocercies.

I really like the coin holder. My Civic HB just had a coin pocket where all the coins mixed together. At least, now I can scare other drivers by methodically arranging my coins while waiting at red lights. As for pennies, I just drop them on the floor to help lower the center of gravity and improve handling.

Now THAT'S extreme fine tuning. You may need to throw a quarter down for the hairpins though.

Obviously I'd use the hatchback for groceries if the hatch were more user-friendly; it's not... I have to fiddle with the stupid lock (don't want people climbing in the back at stoplights so, yes, I keep it locked) for five minutes, and then the "lid" bangs me on the head because I haven't gotten around to removing that yet and finally half the groceries fall out since I haven't gotten around to outfitting it with paper boxes yet, as another owner suggested.

Should it be this much work? No.

I don't need a $100k Lexus; my $6k Suzuki had everything in just the right place.

I am tolerating this vehicle because I'll take a HUGE hit otherwise; plus, it's a Toyota, so I expect at least reliability, and it accomodates my kayak and bike, so I'll reserve the use of the hatch for those items.

But, frankly, I wish I'd just kept the Swift. I'm sure all of you wish that, too.

Are you really that unhappy?
Seriously?
You know, no car is going to be perfect.

I just traded in my old '87 CRX for the Yaris a couple of weeks ago and I still miss my CRX. I'll probably miss it for a long time because it was REALLY fun to drive! Even at its age, the acceleration was way better than the Yaris and I was so used to that CRX, I mean I could practically drive it in my sleep under almost any road condition. The rest of the car was falling apart but the engine was still running strong ...

I selected the Yaris LB to replace the CRX based on several reasons: 1) budget, 2) size of the car (so it can be parked easily in the City), 3) hatchback, 4) Toyota's reliability, 5) easy on gas, 6) manoeuvers great in tight spaces (very important for a city car), and 7) because it was one of the very few cars that I could find with a manual transmission, 8) you gotta admit, the Yaris LB looks cute.

I'm still getting used to the Yaris and I wish some things were different: I would not put the console in the middle of the dashboard, for instance, and I would like the acceleration to be better (it's better in the Fit, if you want to part with more $$$). The Yaris tends to sway a little bit in the back in windy / rainy conditions (I felt that when I crossed the Bay Bridge the other day, it was a little scary, but crossing the bridge with my CRX during high winds/ storm conditions was no picnic either, to be honest, because they're such light cars).

Anyway, what I'm driving at is that, so far, the Yaris has not disappointed me: it was the least expensive car I could find, easy on gas, small, parks easily in small spaces, etc. So I'm putting up with the stuff I don't like. No biggy. For now, the Yaris fits my needs, really. If my needs change so much that the car becomes a problem, then I'll trade in. I don't think I would trade in because the coin holders are in the wrong places, though

And, yes, even though my Swift was getting old and had its problems, I WOULD find myself driving down the road thinking, dang, this is fun to drive... Or dang, this little bullet has pick up... Or dang, I love my hatchback... And dang, this thing sure gets great gas mileage!!! I haven't said that last one YET with the Yaris!!!

who keeps pennies these days?

Pennies are for archiologists to dig up a million years from now as i toss pennies to the curb as soon as i get them. Here in Canada everything seems to cost $?.99 so on every transaction i get to toss a penny, when in the USA seems everything costs $?.96 so i get to toss 4 pennies..If the store has a box for donated pennies i throw them in,if not they're land fill.
Where are these change holders? i dont recollect seeing them in my 08 sedan.
