It was 94 degrees here in southern Michigan yesterday so I ran the air. It was only a short trip or two so that might have had a bearing on it. Felt like it was only cool, not cold! I got the car in Aug 08 and I thought it was weak then as well!!!

Here in Redding, it has been past 100 degrees for a few days now. I find that the A/C keeps up with even that high of a temperature. It may take a few minutes when you first get in the car and start it up, but it quickly cools the cabin down to a comfortable temp. I usually turn the fan on full blast and open the window and then when the coolness starts, close the window and turn the fan down to a 2. Works for me.

it was 108 here in phoenix

the air was cool, not cold

now i took my MR2 out (92) and the air still blows so cold that i had to turn it down

i think its just a small condenser cant keep up with the hot temps

Having a sun shade makes a big difference. I had an old red Stanza that the AC didn't get cold. I would leave work on a hot afternoon and it wouldn't blow cool air until it was almost 25 mins. Rather than paying to have the AC changed, I bought a sun shade. It worked. The AC started blowing cool air after two blocks and cold air after 10 mins.

If you prevent the interior from heating up, the AC doesn't have to work so hard.

Tinted windows help too.

I've ordered a shade, so that should be a big help. The Toyota dealership orders them from Info-Tech, and apparently there is a lifetime warranty on it. They're charging me about $35, which was cheaper than me ordering it directly. Will let you all know how it works out for me.

In the meantime, I have towels on the dash to prevent the sun from hitting it directly...can't wait for my shade!

We had temperatures in the 3 digits this WE, kind of unusual for this part of the Bay Area.
