Yeah, you can also keep looking a little bit. Won't hurt.

So I bought it today for $8400! Mechanic said everything was in great condition and the only thing he found was a nail in one of the tires. I'm so happy!

Good luck with the car. I hoped that your mechanic was able to verify 13 oil changes by the old owner.

Not to worry, I have the same vehicle with the standard shift and have over 54K on it.
120+ daily commute and 2 trips to Canada and back.

With your second paycheck, get a full set of snows for it.
Change the oil regularly, keep the tires fully inflated, and wash it every other month or so.
Try not to spend all of your savings on mods, and when you have questions search the posts here.

Thats some high mileage. I would say, save up and buy one for 2-3 grand more, and a lot less mileage.. I got mine for 12,400, and it had 4,300 miles on it...

But with any used car:
1) carfax
2) Ask for a steady history of Receipts (good way to know its been taken care of)
3) Have the master mechanic at Toyota inspect it
4) Take it for a very thorough test drive.
5) Check for any rust damage
6) Check fluids, and breaks
7) Check age on tires, and type. If they are the cheapest of the cheapest, usually means he didn't care about maintaining it, and wanted to do the bare minimum

and lastly but also very important

8) Check PSI in tires, usually if they are low, he didn't care to maintain his car thoroughly.
