Dude, whether or not the dealership is telling you that they're giving you a deal or not, you're getting screwed on those parts. I got an '09 RS last year, fully loaded off the lot for a hair over 18k, and I haggled a 72month/120,000km EPC plan and undercoating out of them for nothing. Only difference from yours to mine is that I have the 3door.

Now I've put a rear sway bar, TRD lowering springs, limited slip differential, both short shift kits from NST, NST lightened pulleys, PRM intake, Borla exhaust and a new set of wheels/rubber on there and I'm maybe just over the 3 grand mark in terms of parts for the car. Most of what I've bought has been stuff thats damn near new or brand new from people on these boards, there's a super high turnover on parts here dude, just be patient and you'll find everything you want. Save yourself some coin and buy it yourself, screw the dealer. Because at 31k, I'm sorry, they're gouging you on something, I'm having a hard time seeing where this roughly 6 to 8 grand is going. I just dont get it.

I don't post on here very often but 31k is outrageous for what you're getting. By all means, buy the RS with as many options as you want, but buy all the extra parts yourself. Sweet jesus...I mean, maybe I got a deal because the economy was in the shits last year but man, thats just crazy.

**(edit)** And yes, to go along with thebarber, I had to wait a few months for my RS as well. 3 I think it was, and that was the minimum they said it would take.

$7000k accessory from Toyota Dealership seems outrageous, maybe you can ask dealer to give you the list of mod it included in that " $7000" accessory and the price for each item they charge you then you can show the list to us.

Maybe this way we can tell you whether you got ripped by dealer or a good deal.

I've gotta see the window sticker on this thing. I'm having a hard time believing it exists. If it does, I'd love to race against it in my $12k Yaris. I'll own you, since you've added about 500lbs to it!! BTW- $1600 tires?? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

I can't get a 12k Yaris in Canada. If there is one for 12k let me know where it is, and I'll cancel this deal and pay cash for the 12k one, I won't need to finance.

I figure I've added about 50 pounds with those Rims and Tires, not 500.

I need all weather tires, or very good all season for the summer because of the area that I live in. Can you make a better constructive suggestion that you know of, and that you have tested a better less expensive tire in an extreme icy region of north america?

Just a thought, do you change out the OZ 17" Super Turismo WRC rims from dealership?
If yes, make sure you get your stock RS wheel back and don't let them take it, at least you can sell it to cover a bit of your cost.

Pricewise, I think if you are willing to go for different muffler of any kind it will save around $200-300 there but not TRD muffler though. Same as non-TRD shock can save you around $600 something.

Another suggestion to save labour cost is to buy those shock and spring, bring them to some mechanic to install for you for $50 per hour labour, this move will also save you some money.

I know you like TRD stuff, those stuff usually cost a bit more than aftermarket. If that is what you like just stick with your plan.

The cost of tire seems a bit a on the high side, is there any other nice comparable tire with lower cost?

All those are what I can think of to save you some cost.

Yo wait.... I have a 2009 Yaris RS too... But I did want to get a preowned and bump it up like my friend's Yaris 2006 Red with a Blitz inside "Terume" I went to Maple dealership for my 16000 oil change and I saw someone pickup their pearl RS 2010. I went up to the Gal... hehehe and asked if I could take a look inside and...... There is no difference but when I asked if I could see her papers... its $3000 more than what I paid for???? WTF??? Everything stock is the same as mine except she got the all the deflectors and hood and windows had it tinted thats all... I got mine in March 1st 2009 and it costs much less oh BTW its automatic if anyone wants to know. Mine now was a touchscreen dash w/ GPS , this week my LED scanner light should be in and installed, I just lost my job so the appointment for lowering my car is suspended. See you all on Jan 31st East end Yaris Meet !

Would it be illegal to come to the US, buy a new Yaris, then drive back across the border?

Its legal but I wouldn't save much if anything. I would have to lose on the exchange rate, the duty and still pay the taxes. Only time its really worth while on a new car, is if you find someone desperate. Or if the Can. dollar is worth more then US. dollar, which isn't often.

I get all the parts that are swapped out, not sure how much I'll be able to sell stock parts for though.

I asked today about the double install charge on the suspension install, I'll let you know when they get back to me, one of the charges should be wiped off.

As for the rubber, I went to KalTire today and got a price about 700 dollars cheaper than what the dealership gave me. They also made a suggestion for different tires, they said I would be way happier with Nitto Neo Gens instead. I guess they are an ultra high performace all season tire designed for lowered cars. They are also less money. http://www.nittotire.com/#index.tire.neogen

I already have winter radials for the stock RS rims.

So how much money in USD is your Yaris going to cost you in Canada?
Translate it for us because you have lead most people on this thread to believe that you are buying a Yaris for $30,000 in USD.

oh, and the stock parts are worth just about nothing...(if you're thinkin of selling them)

you're better off holding onto them and going back to stock if you ever sell your yaris

It's close... exchange rate right now is hovering around 94¢. So $30k CDN ~= $28.2k USD.

I'm not a Math major but buying the Yaris in the US and driving it back to Canada would save you at least $4000 on the car alone and probably $2000 on the parts and labor. But you stated that is a lot of money to you so I guess if you really lie throwing away $6000+ then go ahead. At least we know Toyota will stay in business!

I've heard of people doing this. Happens more the closer our dollar gets to parity. But I'm sure there are other issues (import duties, warranty claims, hassle, etc.) to take into account.

Meh... I sprung for the fully loaded 5-door RS back in 2005 before it even came out... $23k (CDN!) was my final sticker price. And I only had lowering springs! But I didn't buy it b/c it was cheap... I bought it because it was small and awesome!

the new TRD isn't like the old TRD, unfortunately. The TRD front sway bar on my matrix XRS (made by hotchkis) was nice enough to prematurely wear out my steering rack around the 75000km mark...

though the toyota canada lowering springs (aka eibach prokits) on my yaris for the winter are as nice as the prokits i had on my xrs too...
