Yes, but they were designed and fine tuned for their paticular applications.
Also, they were added mainly as a WOW factor and for "show" as many things back then were.
All the cars mention would have had an abundace of power even going backwards.

Of couse you didn't get air stavation.
I never alluded to that.

I just maintain that most cars have an air turbalance area by the cowls and air flow test bear this out.
BTW, you also have to factor in the turbalance in any particular scoop design its self.

Oh I agree most scoops factory ones for sure are at best worthless.

That's why I added it's all just fun for me.

Nothing wrong with that.
We all do things to our cars "just for fun".

Personally, I added a raised hood scoop to my Celica purely for looks and fun.
Even though the stock scoop was considerd functional (it was supposd to keep the firewall area cooler) it was still mainly cosmetic.

To your credit, you did post it in "cosmetic" mods.

Hey let me know if you're headed to the track, might make it over there. I've only ran the 1/4 and not having turbo im sure we all know how that went, although I did get a 16.9. The one time I went for autocross I didn't know they only took cash so I had to sit out.

How is the scoop designed on your hood? Is it made open, or shut? I'm interested in maybe picking up the CF version and fabbing up a intake for that.

Glass fiber Hoods are for sale 150.00 shipped from garm!

You can not beat that price for a custom hood.

Air box fabrication for the hood is super easy ! Air box can be designed for firewall cooling as the celica design was for or a direct feed of air to the factory air cleaner box is easy as well.

I also think garm might have some cowl scoops. Air box fabrication is a bit more advanced for the cowl scoops.

I have a few cowl scoops left. The fitment is so-so, a little too much gap to be perfect -- I never put them up in my store.
