I think it's more a case off "Just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD".
You CAN put red bulbs in your headlights and still see where you're going, but it's a dumb idea.... |

When it's dark, I'm in a parking lot and watching for other cars, etc. and saw parking lights, I wouldn't assume the vehicle is reversing and would continue forward until I got close enough to see that it's moving. I wear glasses and can't see well in the dark, I dunno why that's just how it is. That doesn't make me dumb, that makes me aware that amber lights are GD parking lights, and not reverse lights.

I guess, like so many of us here on the forum, you're just trying to personalize your car. But, it's probably not a good idea to have amber back up lights... as they are neither safe nor legal.
How about something like this if you want to have custom back up lights? |
