I saw a Vitz in that copper color on the dock on Barbados. Also, here's a nice dark green one from the Hertz rental fleet at the San Juan, PR airport:

I personally do not like the look, but those who do it are "all go and no show". I Dont think it looks good on a Daily Driver. It just looks cheap, and if your going to repaint a car, esp. like the OP's amazing ride, go bigger than flat black. personal opinion.

I will agree that it was a trend that started up in the earlier 2000's that gave many kids still in school to get a cheap paint job and feel included with the rest. OP asked for opinions, and that is mine.

I totally agree if it is not done professionally, but for example a guy that I went to college with had his 350 Nova SS done in matte black with all of the Chrome resurfaced and it looked so nice it was nuts. It was the talk of many towns around me.

Glad you didn't take offense.

Mazilla,
Have you thought about the House of Kolor Kameleons?

I'd spray the door jambs, etc(obviously)...just the core of the engine bay would be black.
I was looking to completely change the color of my car as well this spring. As for doing it right a shop really should remove the doors, trunk lid, and hood to paint them off the car so that all of the jams to include inside the trunk could be color matched. When it comes to the engine compartment the place I was going to go to was going to paint that black making sure they taped off EVERYTHING. Essentially when we did the full cost analysis the price pretty much doubled for the paint job by doing that. I am most likely going to forego having the color changed however I am going to have the shop repaint the entire car since the factory paint job is so shitty and thin on our cars.

Idea #1
Rhino Coat
-Its black, dont even need to paint the inners
-Dont see dents easily, easy touch ups.

Idea #2 (Greater fail rate)
Buy yourself a Airbrush, pick out one color like white, pull out your artistic skills, and have some fun. Add some white rims to set it all off.

Alternate route for the less artistic people.
Go to your local high school, Art class, and pick a kid who can draw. Give him/her the airbrush, and tell them to get to work on the tailgate, two quarters, and half the doors, blend the rest of the car. Dont expect the best and tip the kid a grand.

Here is a link to a shop that sells different types of pearls and metal flakes that are used in custom paint jobs. Their site might get the creative juices flowing.

Yaris is in the body shop...

I have until they finish the bodywork to pick a color, I'm no closer to picking a color today than when I started. LOL
