The interior room is like a Camry. The visibility out the windshield is superior too. The car is easily the best designed car for practical use I have found.

Interior room isn't the same as a camry, front legroom is better in the camry, and it has a less upright position (better for travels imo). The yaris 2012 has improved front legroom and height adjustment though, and rear legroom still good enough.

I wouldn't worry about them calling it small. Fuel prices are going up. And as small as my 07 yaris hatchback is, I can still trailer my Husqvarna TE 250 with my Yaris and average over 30 mpg.

I'll agree that smaller & lighter is the way to go for fuel efficiency, it makes me question why all cars keep growing in size and weight every generation... especially with economy cars.
my only complaint on my 2012 is the placement of the A pillar, it's in the way going around left hand corners, creating a huge blind spot right where I'm looking. I have to move constantly to see around it. |

like others have said. Small outside big inside. Im always supprised how much room I have on each side of my car when i park. But my last car which was a Hyundai Elantra was a "midsize" sedan vs the yaris "compact. The yaris altho it is smaller has just as much room as my old elantra did. I think its due to the short front end. That engine bay is tiny.
Thanks Sean Scott |
