So what you're saying is, you had problems and have written off Toyota as a whole because you decided that using the smallest car they sell in North America as a towing vessel was a good idea.

No helping you then, enjoy your truck, Godspeed with the Jetta (Volkswagen is an apocalypic pile of garbage, especially early Mark IVs) and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

If I was going to go bat shit crazy and trade in my Yaris....for a pick up....A Ford would be my choice....my choice if every Toyota pickup had been sold that is.

ford is pretty damn impressive , the best of the domestic automakers..if my next car isnt a yaris sedan or a new loaded avalon xls , it will probably be a ford fusion or SUV.

I don't think there's such a thing as a good dealership when it comes to warranty work. Most of them make excuses or lie to you. I think I've seen about one good service rep in my entire life..funnily enough at a GM dealer in Mississauga. Part of the reason I stopped buying new and relying on warranty, I rather do my research on whatever issues may come up and pay a local guy to fix it exactly as I say.

We've got creaking going on in the front and rear of the Yaris sedan . Had it to the dealer where we pruchsed it new and found nothing wrong . Still creaks and will bring it back when it's non stop . There's a 8 year / 125,000 mile Platinum warranty that was free from Toyota for the head gasket issue . Should give it plenty of time for all creaks to become constant and in unison for the techs to hear them and hopefully make the repair(s) . Reminds me of an old lazyboy reclining / rocking chair . Plan to keep it until it bites the dust .

Likely them , bushings or the rack / pinion . Maybe all . Shouldn't be happening with less than 45,000 miles . Not that hard on it and avoid potholes best we can .

Owned a Blazer before the Yaris.

I've formed the opposite opinion.

Sorry that your local Toyota treated you like crap. But seems like your Yaris was a lemon.

Don't count out the F150 for FE. It's decent for a truck.

+1. And I don't care what he says about towing the boat being OK, I would never do that with any small car.

I can certainly empathize with your hostility toward Toyota,i think you just got one of those rare Toyotas that was haunted by gremlins, my 2008 sedan has been virtually trouble free since new,it just turned 100K.. But a few years back i bought a new Suzuki Wagon that had just about every problem imaginable, dealer ultimately said i was abusing the car and was actually threatening to cancel the warranty.. needles to say much as i like Suzuki styling they'll never get another dime off me.

I had a Tercel, equally junk.

And it is rated for 800lbs in Canada: 2200lbs in the UK. A rating would equal suitability, no? (Ha! Trick question, the law has already answered this with a resounding "YES".)

I remember laughing up the idea of the extended warranty and how they were such a scam to the Toyota sales guy (because unlike my current dealership that sold one at cost - the stealership makes around 50% mark-up). I now 100% believe in buying an extended warranty from a reputable company. Just another form of insurance, and personally, it seems at worse that I've broken even on any insurance I purchase - minus life insurance, of course.

Honestly, anyone that buys a truck wanting good FE needs to pull their heads out of their asses. There's no way you're going to push/pull 6000lbs in a thrifty fashion. Thriftier? Sure. Thrifty? Maybe when the seas part again...

I know from 30 years of using "fleet" vehicles, that some people are just hard on equipment. They just seem to have bad luck with whatever they use. It is a strange phenomena that drives fleet managers nuts.

Well folks, just reset the "average fuel economy" gauge on the F-150, and she's steadily dropping. Now over 18mpg, and climbing, even with the occasional "test drive" by friends (Who are more than happy to find the torque in the 5.4 Triton ). Not too shabby for a truck that weights around six thousand pounds, eh? Considering I only ever averaged 36mpg with my Yaris...

I had a Sunfire. Only problem was self-inflicted. I learned quickly on a commercial-grade pressure washer should not be hosing down an exposed ABS sensor.

Otherwise, that car just would not die. And THAT car I drove it like I stole it!

here we go again. Good luck with the truck, don't expect anyone here to give you an mm when you attack and insult Toyota. They've always been wonderful to me and mine. Countless Corolla's (literally), a 1982 Supra with over a quarter million miles, and my Yaris running strong with 75k.
