i've done this in my Yaris, and when i had my GTI. you know what's worse? driving a m/t with one hand, and a crap load of blood drawn from you.

I think alot of the danger of driving depends where you are. Don't get me wrong, an accident can happen anywhere at any time. If I drove in a big city like Chicago or New York, I know for a fact my driving habbits would be drasticaly different. Where I live, out in the sticks of Wisconsin, I don't have to deal with congestion from cars. The main thing that slows down traffic out here is the occasional John Deere tractor pulling a shit-spreader. Wherever you drive, use your head and don't drive outside of your capabilities.

I once went up an undulating and twisty hill road while on the phone, though I did say a lot of "hang on, gotta shift" to the person on the line, as I used my shifting hand to hold the phone.

But as for actual one-handed driving, only when I'm creeping up to a toll booth and trying to squeeze my wallet out of a tight jeans pocket...

Its the same thing as eating a cheeseburger with fries in your lap...its all one handed.

Now for a real test, cross your legs and clutch with your right foot and accel and brake with the left....

Thats true! Ive had moments where I would be on the phone or eating some fast food and would change gears and drive with one hand...BUT you would NOT see me doing that in the middle of crazy rush hour traffic in a busy city.

I do it occasionally, but try not to. It's not complicated, but I would rather keep my Yaris in a single piece and avoid stupid accidents...
