I'm sorry if this has been addressed already in the thread but I have a couple questions:
Will this work in a Canadian Yaris? I have a 5-door automatic with tach. I'm guessing probably yes, but it'd be nice to be sure. Were you able to come up with instant fuel economy? Especially interested in L/100km if possible. EDIT: I searched the thread and found both these questions were answered. Looking forward to seeing this project to completion, and likely buying up one myself if possible! Last edited by teddy; 09-01-2010 at 09:50 AM. Reason: found my answers |

I received my sample OLED display today and did a bit of experimentation with it tonight. The display is amazing on the bench, but they all start out that way. This display is a 16 bit color OLED display. For initial testing I am just running it with white text on a black background.
I mounted it in Crashy's cluster for a quick test and will put her cluster in my 09 tomorrow to do some sunlight testing. YarGauge OLED.jpg |

kestion. Are the RPMs reflected in real time or have a slight lag to it like some digital rpm display readings?
Also, does the text change color :) or backlighting w/e? Last edited by Nexus1155; 09-04-2010 at 03:18 AM. |

The text is actually bigger than the two prior displays that I tested. This one has programmable fonts, so I loaded a font that maximizes the space of the clock display opening.
The data is more realtime than other comparable devices, due to the speed of the CAN bus processor that I am using. The hysteresis of the display becomes the limiting factor. The text can be any of 65535 colors with this display. The background can be any color as well, although the manufacturer recommends bright text on a dark background, rather than dark text on a bright background, due to a smearing effect that happens with OLED displays. There's not a cloud in the sky this morning, so today will provide a good test for the sun glare visibility of this one. |

Just what I wanted to hear. I was also thinking color for those of us who want to keep it stock looking or go with our already red motif ;)

That looks mighty fine to me! How hard would it be to attach a wire with some knobs to allow custom adjustment of colors? Something that could be pulled to the bottom of the dash for example...
