I usually try to wave at passing Yari's to get them to notice the yarisworld sticker. But rarely do they even bat an eye at me. I mostly see LB's around here.

Two guys in a black Yaris LB were behind me last week, they kept honking and waving. I was trying not to kill the engine and get embarrassed - not used to the clutch yet.

I didn't see any stickers! They were behind me and I couldn't really see the back window all that well.

I usually just give a nodd - and that's cuz I commute about 200KM a day - so I'm mostly on da freeway doing 80-100KM/H - most Yaris drivers I see are either flooring their gas pedals - or driving at just under the speed limit - and usually Yaris nood back or give me a thumbs up - if I see a Yaris driver parking one somewhere - I often ask they about gas mileage - and if they like their car

I just saw an exact copy of my car!

Here in MI that's VERY rare. It was being driven by a lady, and when we saw each other, we waved. Kind of funny. I don't see Yarii very much around here period, never mind a red 3 door hatch.

I don't. I'm not too social with strangers. And, I would rather they are not too social with me either, but I wouldn't ignore someone either.

i was out on the far westside of indy this morning and found myself behind a carmine red 3door(maybe yours?). great looking color - never seen that color in person. mine is a polar white 3door lowered with a 'fartcan' exhaust and polished steelies. i also saw a pacific blue sedan(the same color as my wife's) a little earlier. i'm not the waving-type as most people think you're a little weird unless thery're a fellow enthusiast

and yet here you are, chatting on line with perfect strangers

Welcome to all the new people btw.

I used to wave but now there are way too many Yarii around here and people look at me funny if I wave. I'll still give the thumbs up if I can tell the driver is looking at my car. After all, we do have the most stylish car on the road

Years ago when I had my Matrix XRS (miss that car) I approached a fella with another Matrix and tried to strike up a conversation about our cars...even told him about MatrixOwners.com. He looked at me like I had a pecker growing out of the top of my head. I haven't bothered since.

Now, it's happened the other way around to me though. I've owned a lot of cars over the years, almost all modded to some degree and people have struck up conversations about them. When I had my xB, other Scion owners waved, honked and talked to me at stoplights and gas stations. But I never initiated the conversations.

Gotta share this (concerning the xB)....best random quote from a non-Scion owner at a gas station, "That things electric ain't it? Bet it gets good gas mileage".

I don't usually initiate the conversation with strangers either, but I've had some approach me (all guys sadly ) to ask about the car. I like the car and don't mind if people are curious, so I tell them about it.

... Plus I'm Canadian so I have to uphold the stereotype and pretend to be polite.

Forgive me, eh?

I've been in America for too long. Forgetting my roots.

actually, I was looking at buying a subaru from someone (long story) and I approached a couple of people with the same car model in the parking lot at Safeway to see how they liked their car. One of them suggested joining a forum and seeing what kind of response I would get. I did, asked my questions, and got my answers. I didn't buy the car.

so when I bought my Yaris a month or two later, I did just that, joined a forum to talk to people who have the same interest.

I don't mind talking to strangers, in fact, around here, people are very easy to talk to.
