Linkseal,
riceboy has stated that delivery will take about 1-3 weeks. If it is being shipped direct from Japan, I suspect it will take about 1 two 2 weeks to urban areas in Canada as it is being sent via airmail. As for duties/taxes, I am pretty sure that there will be at least GST 6% charged by Canada Customs, and any applicable provincial sales tax PST or HST depending on which province it is being sent to. There may be duties or excise tax depending on how the lights are classified and which HS code they are cleared under.

I'm not sure what the import taxes/duties/tariff are going to be... I'll find out once I get mine in the mail... Shipping is included in the purchase price.

From my experience, you will be paying GST 6%, PST 7% (in Ontario), and then 5% admin charge, which comes to roughly 20% if they charge you.
Per Revenue Canada, they will charge tax even on GIFTS that are over $60 declare value. So it would be nice if they can label the light at a lower price and maybe mark it as USED PARTS to lower the chance of being taxed, but I think that will effect the insurance? |

Yeah I asked about marking the parts used, but they advised me that it would affect the insurance because the value would be understated...

Japanparts.com is selling these lights for $350 + shipping ($39 to Toronto). So we're saving $39 right off!

Japanparts.com also adds a 'surcharge' that you don't see until well into the ordering process - at least for credit card purchases they do.

It was about $10 (US) on my $142 order. For the $330 lights I want, the surcharge would be about $20. I guess it is based upon the credit card merchant charge?
You get a chance to review all charges before placing your order. At any rate, they were great to deal with. My package made it to me in two days from Japan. I couldn't believe it. |

Well if this group buy doesn't go through, I'll be checking out japanparts.com if the local tuner shops charge too much.
Riceboy, what's the status of the group buy if there are only 9 buyers?

Another note regarding Canada customs:
If the package is handled by Canada Customs Border Services Agency upon entry to Canada, and CBSA decides to charge you taxes and duties, you must pay a minimum $5.00 handling charge. This only occurs when the package is handled by CBSA and is then delivered to you via Canada Post. Should the package be delivered by Purolator, which depends on how the shipper designates the importance of the parcel, and if taxes/duties are charged, you will probably be paying a brokerage charge since it is now being cleared by Purolator. Purolator handles time sensitive parcels from Canada Post, so depending on how the shipper sent the item, it may be delivered to you via Canada Post or Purolator. In terms of taxes, it will consist of the following: GST 6% PST or HST, varies depending on your location Duties (Possible, depending on how the lights are classified and which HS code it is classified under) Excise Tax (Unlikely in my experience, only items like cigarettes get excise taxed) In terms of insurance/value declaration, it is always best to declare the full purchase value of the goods. If the parcel gets damaged or lost, you are entitled to the full value that was declared if you submit a claim. Hope this helps!
