Don't use premium unless the vehicle's computer was tuned to run *Premium fuel only* at the factory.

your computer will adjust the timing as close to pre dentanation as it can with the fuel you have in the car.test have proven the fact that any car will produce less power with regular than with premium.

Yea, me too... My informal tests (I.E. how it feels to drive and mileage per tank) seem to show better power and mpg...

It's a proven fact that Ford TSB's had to be released because they figured out that long cranking times during startup was because owners used premium in cars designed to burn 87 octane. Talking about effecency, not power.

if you have upgraded your car with performance parts and drive like you stole you will get pinging at higher rpm's and full throttle with 87 octane.if you drive like a grandma and your car does'nt get past 3500rpms use 87 octane all you want.toyota recommend 87 octane yes, but with a high compression motor and high rpms i would not use it. even the smart car recommends premium knowing you will get pinging with regular.

A modded car and a stock setup are different.

the car will not have to retard the timing with premium letting you rev safely with no pinging and all of the power the motor can make.

Yeah, I forgot that Ford builds cars that have ignition systems, internal combustion motors, A/F ratios, burntimes, etc, that are exactly opposite of how every other automaker builds their cars now.

You're still talking performance results and driving fast for a modded vehicle on a thread that is about fuel economy?

So sorry that my original statement zoomed over your head.

"Don't use premium unless the vehicle's computer was tuned to run *Premium fuel only* at the factory."

Was talking about cars like my old '05 GTO, expensive SUVs, SC'd Cobras, other SVT vehicles, etc... that came from the factory with *Premium fuel only* tunes.
