I decided to keep them. After wiping them down w/ some rubbing alcohol and windex, they look better. I do need to buy two new caps though for the parts that push into the roof. |

gonna sound stupid but the whole visor on the '09 doesn't happen to slide in/out does it? on the spine?
I'm just wondering as I've seen that as a much better alternative to a little piece out the side of the visor. I'd rather have it slide entirely and have a larger blocking area. (i.e: you rotate the visor out of the 'home position', then pull the visor itself on the 'spine/track' and it slides to wherever it needs to) |

So I started this thread and it looks to me like it either was discontinued due to safety concerns or costs.
If it is because of safety concerns and the side airbag just wondering if anyone knows of a clip on extender or something like that that can be attached to the visor. |

I've seen clip on extenders in auto parts stores, but they look kind of cheesy. |

I'll 2nd CTScott. With the dollar/yen exchange at the point it is the Yaris is probably losing money for Toyota on each one they sell. Honda just announced plans to build the Fit in the USA and until Toyota does likewise don't expect to see too many Yarises at your friendly Toyota dealer. So a penny saved on the Yaris is not a penny earned, but one less penny lost by Toyota IMO- hence their desire to cut costs wherever and whenever possible.

I just checked toyotaoemparts.com, looks like you could just order one from toyota for the driverside for about $50. Just make sure they know you want the one with the slide extension built in. Not the cheapest way to fix the problem, but I'd hate to live with out mine espcially knowing it was once standard equip., but deleted because of bean counters. I had a similar situation on a jeep where the year I had did not have the extenders, but newer years did. I ended up swapping them out with-no regrets of giving up lighted vanity mirrors for non-lighted, but with extenders.
