For what you get the GTR is concidered a bargain by many. I wonder how much is an oil change for a Porsche GT3 or a Lambo? You gotta pay to play... these cars are no daily drivers, no beaters... Mustang > GTR don't think so... |

At first I was in awe of the R35 GTR's, but now with people having issues with the transmissions I'm beginning to become skeptical. In order to do the 1/4 mile and 0-60 in the times that Nissan advertised ( 0-60 3.4 sec, and 11.4 1/4 mile I'm pretty sure) you have to turn VDC (traction control) to use the Launch control feature, BUT by turning off the VDC you void the warranty. Some guy apparently used launch control a few times, and now his tranny blew up (the black box recorded VDC being off) . Nissan wants 20K for a new tranny haha. I understand not abusing the launch control feature, but come on. Nissan shouldn't have let EVERY publication brag about the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times if you can't achieve those times without voiding the warranty. Classic Nissan service, on a car that costs $70,000-80,000 is unacceptable. Here's the link, http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=25361 and a funny photoshop I found in that thread

Saw a red one on the road this past weekend. Looks nice, but I still prefer the looks of the R34. Why the hell would they give you an easy access switch to make the car faster when pushing that switch automatically voids the warranty if something goes wrong? They should have hidden that switch and put a sticker on it warning drivers that flipping the switch will void the trans warranty. And wtf were Nissan thinking not engineering a bulletproof transmission for their most powerful/expensive vehicle? lose money.
