I suppose so. The one job that would intimidate me in the Yaris or any car is pulling the dash out.

I called Toyota support today to find if there are any recalls for my car. Turns out I have to change both Takata airbags (I knew it anyway) and something I didn’t saw from anyone here referring : they need to check my driver’s window switch

Toyota Recalls

Also what about the front seat’s airbags? Aren’t they Takata, or they are just too cheap to issue a seat replacement?

The driver side airbag is something I've had in the back of my mind since they announced the recall on the passenger side. I assumed they're both made by Takata, but was hoping the very different design of the driver side unit would save it from being recalled. Hearing that they told you both driver and passenger airbags need to be recalled is worrisome

The driver’s side airbag is easier to change anyway. I assume it will take less than 2 mins for them. Just call them and they will tell you. I think that you will have to change it too.
The passenger side is the hard one thought, because they have to take off the whole dash. I am worried about it because they may scratch something or not screw it back, properly.

That was a concern of mine, too. Fortunately, the dealership I went to did a fantastic job. My inside/outside air selector actually worked better after the airbag change than prior to. I wonder if they broke it during the swap and replaced it, because it truly feels better than ever.

I think I still have the link to the vin checker, so I'll have to keep an eye out for word on the driver side.

Vin check for me wasn’t helpful.
It showed that I have no recalls whatsoever, but I had 3.
Just call them and ask. I called Toyota support they answered the phone right away, they asked me my license plate and the told me what recalls I have.

I think you were lucky. I wish they will make nice job to me too.
I called them they will order the parts and when they arrive, I will arrange an appointment.

I think they did a good job placing the dash back again.

**Update:
I found many screw marks in the dash...

I just got the passenger air bag recall notice for my '09 a few weeks ago.

So, today I took it to the dealer to have it repaired. It only took about 75 minutes .

However, no one there could tell me what was involved in the repair and what had to be removed to replace the faulty inflator..
So, I removed my tach (simple) and emptied all the storage areas just in case.

Does anyone know exactly what was involved and what had to be removed?

Everything seems in order when I got my Yaris back.

I believe the inflator is accessible from inside the glovebox.

I've had the dealer remove the whole dash back in 07 and involves removing the pillar covers and the passenger air bag is attached to the dash.

Throttle issues

Hi Les here. When we bought our 08, about one year later we were coming down an off ramp and when I got on the throttle the engine powered down. I put the pedal to the floor and it would'nt respond. Took it to the dealership and they said they moved some sensor from one cylinder to another. It has never done it since. As this car was ordered from the factory we had cruise control added. I have had a few recall notices issued telling us to bring it in and have the unit disconnected?Probably some issues with the fly by wire and external interference. Never had any issues.
