There's no place to mount it within the OZ cluster, so you will need the vent mount version or the separately packaged version.

Another little update - Thanks to Toyota finally fixing a bug in TechStream, on 09's and older, ambient temperature now doesn't require tapping the wire to the AC amplifier.

of course you know... this means absolutely nothing to me..but if you say it means something then i believe you. You are YarisGuru. Does this mean i have less wires to tap when i install it?

Correct. I now have every function working by CAN message to the appropriate ECU, so for the clock replacement version, you literally will just plug the clock's power connector into the YarGauge, and connect just two wires to the cluster's connector.

Today I figured out the cruise control messaging, so I can now tell if cruise control is "on" or "set", just like the 09+ cluster.

By 09 and older, do you mean 06,07,08? Or 09+? I only ask because you say it was a bug fix, so I assume it's 09 and newer.

The 2010s and newer support the standard OBD request for ambient air. The 09's and older (06-09) did not, so on them I have to get the ambient air temp from the AC ECU. The bug fix was in the TechStream software, not in the car.

I am just about done with the software for the unit itself. Now I am working on adding the functionality to be able to read and reset DTCs for all of the body ECUs (ABS, A/C, Body, Power Steering, Meter, TPWS, and SRS).

Any thoughts on open/closed source code?

I don't know what kind of hardware its programmed on, but if there's any capabilities to customize/have fun with (like make it say 'SWIDD IS BAD DRIVER' when I turn on the car and say 'CALM DOWN SWIDD' when I speed), it could at least increase the justification for purchasing the USB cable, and/or give the community something to do.

I very well may disclose the protocol for the USB interface. The primary reason would be to allow those running something other than Windows to be able to write their own app, as my app with be for Windows.

I think I would be able to make a Linux version of the app if you were to release the source code. I'm currently in the process of learning Python, so this could be the perfect project for me to tackle.

That's what I was thinking - That if I publish the protocol for the USB comm, Linux, Mac, etc. people can write their own apps for it.

If I need to be in the car with a laptop, then I'll need that software to run in linux, either with ported code or using Wine. But I also may not worry about it and use it as is :)

I will be using it as is as I do not own a laptop because I have no need/use for one.

I wonder how many who are here that also do no have a laptop or who may actually have one.

After getting an iPhone I haven't used my laptop at all, its in the back of a closet collecting dust. But it could perhaps come out of the closet to play with the YarGauge.
