There are way more sedans around here. I hardly ever see any LB. I have only seen maybe 10 driving around since I got mine in May 08. Both are great cars by the way. Just depends on what you need it for and personal preferences.

I just stated that this site is a general consensus of what people buy throughout the united states and elsewhere as there are all ages, races and people from different countries on this site, if you don't think that is a good general representation then I don't know what to tell you. There is a whole range of age differences that buy both cars to say that young people tend to buy the LB is just a plain stupid comment. There are a lot of middle age and older people here that also have the LB, as well as there are young and older people who have the sedan.

You are right though obviously we will never agree so as you stated lets just agree to disagree.

But....if there are 100 16-20 yr olds on here and only 20 30-70 yr olds on here that is not a good representation. Economy cars like the Yaris are usually purchased by the younger population. High School kids and college aged kids don't have a lot of money so they buy the Yaris or their parents buy it for them. The younger population is the ones that are more likely going to customize their cars so therefore it makes sense that parts companies gear their sales towards the LB.

In order for this poll to be correct, it must be broken down into age groups. If 100 people vote, and only 10 of them are older people, then your results are going to be off.

I am just saying that this poll is a statistic that shows more people purchase the LB. You are assuming on age, not showing proof. Just to make a point I am gonna assume garm has money. I think we can all agree on that. He is probably in the 40's range in age and he drives a liftback. This is just one example and there are many more. Another thing is what do you consider young and what do you consider old?

I am in my 30's and drive a sedan and have modded it highly, so again your assumptions are wrong! How can a broke college student or a high school student that had to have their parents buy there car afford any modifications? Another thing, look at any import tuner or sport compact car magazine and most of the people on there that are features are usually in there late 20's through older age.

This poll is a great reference to general population of the people that buy this car no matter what age. I am not saying this is the most true and accurate information you can get, as a matter of fact I don't know where you would get that information from, but your assumptions that only young people and poor people are the only ones who purchase the yaris or any other economy car are simply not true and not backed up by any information or proof.
If you noticed in my post I used to word "usually" a lot. The word "usually" means a majority of the time. More than half. More than 50%. Get the drift? No where in my post did I say that ALL older people drive a Sedan or that ALL members of this forums were under a certain age, like you are implying that I said. Generally speaking, the older a person, the less likely they will be part of an online forums, no matter what the topic is. This could be for many reasons. The main one is that a lot(which means some but not ALL so don't get this confused again) of olded people don't even know how to turn a computer on much less how to get on the internet or even get on a forum.

Usually(remember this word from earlier?) cars that are in import tuner mags have thousand of dollars worth of mods, sometimes even over $100,000. Therefore it makes since that these people are older because they have been through college and have a good paying job in order to pay for their mods.

Also, I never said poor people buy the Yaris. College students that are on a budget are not going to go out and buy a Hummer or a Vette are they? No. They are usually(again remember this word?) going to buy an Eco car like the Yaris.

Disclamier: Here is the meaning of the word usually. When I use this word, refer to this section to learn the meaning. I am not responsible for YOU not understanding the meaning of the words in this post.

got both so i'll give you my impressions. bought sedan first because we needed something with 4 doors and excellent gas mileage(that and the corolla is the most BORING-looking car ever imho - sorry corolla owners!). we got an auto because it's my wife's primary car and she wanted that. got lb second because my car literally fell-apart on the way home one day and i needed something as inexpensive as possible, but i wanted a new car. i purchased a manual lb with as few options as i could find. thoughts? i definately like the headlights and tails better on the sedan(the factory ones anyways). in fact, i like the overall 'look' of the sedan better(reminds me of a mini-camry- the new ones). 4 doors is also nice if you're loading kids in carseats everyday too! however, the lb is funner(is that a word?) to drive, but that might just be the transmission. i hate the factory headlights and tails on the lb, but that can be fixed(eyelids and new tails). also, its a PAIN loading carseats in the back, but i won't be doing that forever! there's more aftermarket for the lb, but i haven't done any mods yet('yet' being key word- christmas is just around the corner!). i also like that it's a little shorter and the hatchback versatility. overall, there's things i like/dislike about both. sorry for the long-winded response!

I have a LB, I didn't even try the sedan because I was looking for a hatchback, I did test drive hatchbacks from other manufacturers though and I liked the yaris best because it didn't seem as big as the others (but it was still spacious enough) and it had only 2 doors. I never carry passengers, at least not beside my husband or 1 friend next to me, so the back seats in my previous cars have always been a waste of space.

I love the fact that I can put the seats down and get the dog bed and have my dog in the back, laying comfortably instead of worrying about falling between the seats or not having enough room to get up and turn around.

I don't have children and don't carry passengers, so a 2 door seemed perfect for my lifestyle. I used to think the sedan was pretty ugly, but I guess that might have been older models because the latest ones do look like a little camry, not bad.

Cool

Lb are good looking and all i didn't like them at all when i was buying my sedan but by time they came out looking good and i want one just for fun, but the main reason for me buying the sedan was passengers including my mom she drives it too (And yes it is my car!!! its under my name and all!!!). but after all the things i been thru with this car its has come real handy including commuting to roadtrips... and i really like the looks of the sedan i always had been a sedan guy.

Not just a "lift back" but a 5 door lift back.

This poll is going to be one sided because usually younger people are going to drive LB. Also younger people usually are part of online forums more than older people...

Let's not make this a "which one is better" thread.

The HB and sedan are entirely different cars, designed and distributed by quite separate divisions. They actually share very few componets in common. For some unknown reason, Toyota chose to sell them in some offshore markets both badged with the Yaris nameplate... makes no sense at all, but what the heck.

Can we just make a mature and reasonable comparison of some of the features of and available upgrades for the two cars without the folishness?
