Yes, a couple Matrix were tested prior to my Yaris.

Regarding the Yaris results;
If my baseline HP seems a bit higher than others results keep in mind that I had the TRD Axle-back in place. Otherwise no power-adders in place.
Also the OEM air filter element was put back in for the base-line test. I normally run with a K&N drop-in.

that sounds like a seriously mis-calibrated dyno..

97whp on a STOCK AUTOMATIC 1nzfe that is rated at 106 AT THE CRANK??????? sorry, i call B.S.

edit: read that you had a muffler.. still isn't gonna make up for the 10 or so extra HP you show..

nah, it's just a mis-calibrated dyno.. either way, good numbers from the intake.. even if they aren't accurate

First off, I can't speak to the calibration of the dyno, but regardless the difference between the two runs is where the meat lies.

Second, my HB is the automatic and served as the subject car for development. The sedan on the dyno last night is a 5 spd.

FYI, it's a 5 speed, not automatic. And interesting because one of the Matrix guys was pissed, claiming his tested much higher on another dyno so???

In any case it's a know fact that no two dyno's will read the same. Different machine, different temps, different air, different operator...
The purpose of these tests were to compare baseline hp and that generated with the Jet Stream Intake installed. The pulls were accomplished within minutes of each other with only the time to switch the intakes between tests.

ya, i saw the dyno for that xrs...was woefully low

yours makes some sense for a trd axle back and 5spd...5whp over stock doesnt seem too out of the range of plausibility for the yaris...

were you guys open to the outdoors? were the dyno's SAE corrected? how cold was it? likely about -10C and low humidity?

not bad gains though muskoka

The shop doors were openned regularily to move vehicles about. Outside was likely about -3C that day. Humidity???. Inside the shop was around 17-18C. Can't comment on whether the dyno was SAE corrected. I was just there as a donor 5 speed car to test the intake. And for the experience.

just sayin that if the dyno wasnt SAE corrected, itll run a few hp higher....but given the matrix guys were runnin low....but in 4th gear doesnt make sense to me

anyways, the key is in the difference over stock anyhow....so the PRM like most other intakes at a few hp and tq at the wheels over stock.....

sidebar: typically, the matrix guys use forrest and forrest racing in kitchener as their gospel. i dynoed my xrs in london one time and ran about 180whp while comparing 03 and 04 xrs ecu's. that was about 10whp higher than i ran at forrest and forrest. matrix guys wouldnt except 100whp/L, lol. so at any rate, i took it for what my test was originally for: and that was to compare power curves of 03 and 04 xrs ecu's....

+1

Whether or not we are getting a 'true' whp reading for the Yaris here is not the point. This was a test to measure, back to back, the difference between two setups.

Best I currently have is a crap scan. Had to play with colour hue to make both run lines visible.

Edit - 2008/01/18 new copy of graph received and is now shown.

Don't know how the xrs that was there felt about his numbers. Was interesting to see his results from 3 setups tho. I think these are the right numbers.

Stock 146.43 whp
AEM SRI 149.34 whp
AEM pipe + PRM filter 153.30 whp
