Talking

Got the foam out the spheres (with Acetone)

The shell it's not very strong so I cut small strips of fiber glass and paste them inside the sphere with some spray glue, then added resin+MEK to reinforce the structure of the spheres.

I'm sorry my camera ran out of batteries so I used a point and shoot, I'll post the pictures soon...

The spheres without foam!

Spheres with some Fiber Glass (I added more fiberglass as I was pouring the resin.

Looks ugly now, but the spheres should be very solid by tomorrow!

Next step is the add a wood baffle for the tweeter and match the spheres.

Looking good D!

Anything you want me to find for you at CES? I'm landing in Vegas Tomorrow morning.

Anybody there givin out free 2 to 4 channel amps give me a holla!! LOL I'm gonna need to get something to offset the internal power from a little Kenwood HU I'm getting. Also getting some cheap, but better than stock component front speakers this week. Now if i can talk my oldest into the virtues of a single 12 sealed box instead of the 2 w/ported box he has now, I'll be able to bump it alittle. LOL, terrible, plotting against my son like that, lol

Sanded down the opening in one of the spheres to match the diameter of the Tweeter, glue in place a balsa wood baffle, hardened with CA+ accelerator (this process reminds me my other hobby, r/c model airplanes) and made a hole for tweeter.

Now lets do the other sphere... (soon)

Sorry for crappy pictures, I'm still using the point & shoot camera, and the dust over the tweeter, )o:

I'll see if I can get a hybrid audio t shirt for you at least. I'll be hanging around Scott until Sunday anyway...

I don't know if image Dynamics is going to have an off site suite, I'll try to corner matt borgart or one of the other guys from ID to get you something.

Pioneer USA will be there. That's one of the First booths I'm visiting!

I was in the convention center today actually helping Scott B move black Betty into the IASCA booth. You should have seen all the people taking video and pics. I'm "working" in a suite across the street from the convention center. I'll get lots of pictures of the other cars too. I saw at least three murcialagos within 59 yards. BB is right across the aisleway from the pioneer USA booth. I'm going to have fun with that one. Hopefully we have that Lexus in the booth at some point...

Yes, I will do my damnedest to get to the maxxsonics booth.

Definitive technologies is on the other side of the courtyard of suites from us...have to visit them too!

Hey D, have you installed those L6's yet? I'll have scott's ear for several days since we're crashing at the same suite. That is IF you want to ask any questions.

I haven't I only got regular rings for the L6s and I wanted to have them flush in the kickpanels. I'm figuring out how to make it happen.

Regular ring on the left, and step down ring on the right for a flush mount it's what I'm looking for my L6s.

But I do have a couple of questions... may not be relevant but aiming the L6s up in a 45 degree angle towards the listeners or "off axis" I guess in the 40Hz to 300Hz it doesn't really matter. (From the kickpanels)

for the L1v2 in spheres in front of the sail panel... on axis or off axis? I know I should try them for some days and feel the difference on what sounds better for me, but it wouldn't hurt to know what Scott thinks.

Thanks
D.

Get those Mids on axis as much as possible. I'd aim them towards the space above the gear shift.

Yes, you should try all the speakers at different axises. It really depends on the sound YOU like. These tweeters SHOULD be able to perform damned well off axis.

That's actually the advice he gave to me with the L1 Pros years ago.

Whadya think about this:

^LOOONG day and Scott Buwalda and Duane Blackwood are finally finishing dinner off with a little bit of bread following the T-bone steak and sauteed shrimp...

If you guys don't know Duane Blackwood, do a google search and look up the hit on his 5.0 liter mustang.

The aiming of my drivers are/will be very similar to his Mustang... I'm concern on the "width" of my front stage, any feed back from the experts will be NICE!

Thanks

All good!
No problem! we could have a LINK instead!

Yes I wonder how you get to a better SQ, specially width and depth of the front stage.

Thanks

D.
