Ok, with this set up, the stage was very narrow, tweeter on sail panels helped the stage width but wasn't natural, you could get a really good center image very sharp but depth wasn't good either, why...? speakers are too close to your ears.

Next step...

Set the microphone on the drivers head rest and run auto Time Alignment and EQ

We'll see how it goes!

Looks real good Derick! I was wondering how big the ball for the tweeters was. Even though I will have my main speakers in the doors, I'm thinking of doing the encloser for my tweeters.

Thanks,

It's a fun learning process, the spheres help with diffractions with high frequencies, the Mids got a sphere but it's more looks than function, I'm very happy with the results.

I'm still running the Mid-Bass speakers in the doors, all 3 speakers make what it's called "3 way Front Stage", very interesting concept and sounds great! even though I'm going to move the Mid-Bass speakers from the doors to Kick panels, the "Doors" are not really a good speaker Box!

Try to keep tweeters close to the main speaker, so you don't separate frequencies, sounds much better when all the music comes from 1 point

It is interesting about the door "enclosure" in regards to mid bass. We have nice big doors...for some reason, even if fully deadened, the doors don't perform as well as some other cars.

Although I haven't gotten into the door, if its like most cars I am toying with the idea of sectioning off as much as possible to create an enclosure for the one in the door....to create a cabinet so to speak. I would think if sound is rumbling around in a door, even if treted is just too much room. Mine are merely some rockford fosgate components, so I'm expecting too much...just trying to maximize what I have. may get something else in the future, but for now they will do the trick. gonna order either a kenwood 545 HU or pioneer 7200 ( both are HD tuner units) this weekend and a 50-60 watt amp for them to feed on. gonna get some mating material for the doors too to start.

...Great idea...

The challenge is to get around the window. There is the idea of making door panels.

I thought about the doors too, but the glass gets in the way, too complicated for me, I'm going for kick-panels!

Ok, Auto TA and EQ was performed...

1.- The first time, I got an "ERROR SUB-R" right channel of the Sub? do I have to tel the HU that it's running Mono? SQcomp did you have this problem as well?

2.- Quick fix... I turned the SUB-Woofer off and performed the test again.

3.- The HU- P99 did it's magic specially with Time-Alignment, even though the 7 Drums test and the other front stage tracks are not perfect, but much better than what I had before. Maybe it has to do with how I placed the 3" Mids. Makes me think... should I go Off-Axis ?? but... I'm very happy they way they are now!

4.- Impressions... BOLD the sound it's amazing, kind of put the vocal right in the center and stage is much higher, I can tell this by going back and forth with my previous settings.

5.- Auto SQ brings music alive and in a 3Dimentional way.

6.- My mids and tweets sound great! (Hertz HL-70 and HAT Legatia L1v2) now I do understand where is the difference when using better quality speakers, my Mid-Bass and Woofer (Hifonics Zeus 6.5 and 10" BACHUCKA) really need an UPGRADE!

Time to get a Box for the IDQ12, and start making Kick panels for the HAT Legatia L6s. Yeah! the 6.5 Zeus sound Ok, but the the doors suck! is that when you say..."sound muddy"? or to me kind of Hallow, it just doesn't sound good, like SQcomp mentions above...

"We have nice big doors...for some reason, even if fully deadened, the doors don't perform as well as some other cars."

I'll show some snap shots of the settings before and after for Time-Alignment and cross over points. It's very interesting to see how music/sound performs withing the interior of a car...

Glad to hear its moving along D. I'm gonna wait till I get my deadening I think, to see what can be done...if anything about making a cabinet of the door. It may be odd shaped I know. And in reality, how much room to I need for a cabinet for a 5-6 inch speaker. I think I'll research this!

Thanks,

Keep in mind most of 5-6.5 drivers are Free Air, (IB) infinite baffle. Look for a specific sealed or vented box. I've been there too.

The deck wants to see all channels in stereo. I had to switch my sub's 2.9 from mono to stereo. Try something like this first. If nothing else raise the gain just a little. The mic might not be hearing the woofer.

Our doors might actually be too big, perhaps. It's strange. One of my friends at the sound shop put in some 6.5" mids in his Legacy's doors...and they are some of the fastest and impactful mids I've ever heard. His doors are deadened even less than mine. I'm still a little baffled by it. I'm REALLY glad I didn't hack up my doors for my L8's!

Thanks I'll try bumping the gain up, I don't think my amp lets me go stereo.

I'm guessing you are talking about MLV?

MLV= Mass Loaded Vinyl

12"x12"x1/8" = 1 pound same as lead

It's a "Sound Barrier" to prevent road noise come into the cabin.

LINK for more info.
