It hasnt been really restored (yet). Its more of a 50 footer, original paint is a little rough. What I have done to it myself is replaced the engine, was blown when I got it, upgraded to 3/4 ton 8-lug axles with a shackle flip in the rear for lift, razor grille conversion, larger fuel tank, custom bumpers and rock sliders. Also did some interior mods.
This Wagoneer is a little deceiving because they never made a 4-door SJ with wide track axles and fender flares. This was converted to a wide track when it was new by a dealer out in Cali. Only the J-trucks and some of the 2-dr Cherokee's had the fender flares.

A 1986 Chevy Celebrity. I bought the car used for $900 and drove it hard until it died. Sweet ride for being a bit of a rust box.

I previously drove a 1999.5 MK4 VW Jetta (one of the very first ones to roll off the assembly line for that model). I loved this car overall, but it eventually developed peculiar electrical gremlins where the windows would not function depending on the phase of the moon, the car alarm would go off in the middle of the night even when not set, the turn signals worked when they felt like it, and numerous plastic pieces decided to break/snap off just for fun. Wheee!
With me requiring an absolutely dependable daily driver, the aforementioned oddities were unacceptable. I have higher hopes for Toyota. |

Tundra
2010 Tundra had to get rid of it due to gas prices in my area over 4 dollars a gallon and at 9.9 mpg average it was killing me.
And before that a lifted 2008 Tacoma |

ouch. I know someone who drives an H2. Drove to key west and back towing a boat with a kayak on the roof, got 8 mpg the entire way and enjoyed every second. Oh, so nice for him to be wealthy.

Yeah money was definitely a problem in that truck lol. Wish I could have kept it but Chicago winters have been hit or miss lately. I can do without the 4WD. The narrow tires and traction control should be enough. And just in case, my buddy down the street bought that lifted Taco and I gave him all my recovery gear so I should always have a free tow haha.

BamBam, what happen to the first Yaris? Looks pretty bad.
Kame, know what you mean on gas prices. For me, I need something that can go much further on one tank of gas. Having to stop every 3 or 4 days is killing me. Should have stuck with another Camry. |

I would defend til the cows come home his right to do that (unlike how liberals feel about that (usually)), but I still think his doing that was incredibly wasteful (I guess I can't completely shake off the SF Bay Area Native within me....although I have politically from an economic perspective). Speaking of politically...I've been missing in action for the last week and a half re my foot, so I didn't get a chance to reply to your long reply to multiple people before tk-421 shut down that thread. I wanted to reply to about half of your replies on that post. I don't want tk-421 to get upset and ban me, so I won't compose all of those replies. Hopefully he won't be upset if I just do one of those replies very briefly. You expressed surprise (I can see why given my posts) that I argued (to a member of my family) that Obama was a better choice than HC for the nomination. I hadn't yet read anything he wrote (or supposedly wrote) at that point in 2008 and I was so disillusioned by many aspects of the Bush administration that I wanted to believe what he SAID. Both of us are the only children our parents had together. Both of us were essentially raised by our grandparents (although I was much closer to mine than he apparently was to his). Both of us had similar 4 year periods before college. Both of us started out at small private 4 year colleges for our first 2 years before transferring to larger universities, each 'on the map' globally. I guess I just wanted to believe. At that time I cared quite a bit about how other nations view the U.S. .....now...not so much.

these mods have always quickly shut down political talk. They just don't want to see it at all.

25, 550 MILES!
|
Last Vehicle Was a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer
It was a nice SUV in excellent condition, but got to be too much after awhile. It was overkill to drive from point A to point B. When we moved to the country the idea was to get a truck to be able to haul bigger things we found while out junk shopping. Well, 3 Christmas trees, 2 chairs, and 2 curio cabinets later...it served its purpose. Even with the straight 6 the gas mileage sucked. It would be cheaper to have stuff delivered!
My 2013 Yaris is a nice personal space, it is a blast to drive & is basic without all the frills I never used. Air Conditioning, Automatic Transmission & iPod capability is all I need! It is great to stop at gas stations now...for just coffee! |
