Trunk is very noisy, I like the way the bass feels with one seat folded down, but I hear a lot of road noise, Yes it helps acoustics for sure! it's a must to combat rattles.

Yes, the roof was the last part of the car I deadened. The noise floor is noticeably reduced the closer the deadening is to you. Since we have sedans, we have the trunk noise stiffled by the back seats. Still, you should feel my trunk lid...it's heavy. The nice thing is, there are no rattles. That's what we're going for.

I had to take out my rear speakers because of my amp rack that takes up the space where the woofer would normally fire through. You can imagine that my back deck is a little deadened.

Damn 15"s! :P

I'm working on the idea of four 6" sub woofers though...

I took out the rear speakers too, but still sounds better with one of the seats folded down.

Wait a minute... four (4) 6" sub woofers? wow, how is that going to help in SQ?

:D

I can put all four up in the dash...and put 900 watts to them. No need for an elaborate trunk woofer install.

There's some space in the dash where one could probably find .6 to 1.2 ft^3 of space. I'd like to try that with .6 to start and see what the results are. The dash is built on a frame. One could start the enclosure off the dash frame...

I'll probably wait to do that for later this year or after SBN 2012. It would radically change the sound stage (for the better) and I don't know if I want to go into IASCA finals trying to re-tune the car. I'd like to have some time to tune. Unless someone wants to buy my ML3800 off me. I'd work a damned good deal. THAT would force me to start the idea now.

I understand...

I can tell you what's going to happen, when you put the L6 in you'll be able to take the HPF on the "low" pre-out down to around 40 Hz. I actually have a "little black box" that can help the Zeus speakers... That's a whole other topic.

Still, we know what's going to happen if you bring that 10" woofer up to 100 Hz. You'll hear localized bass. That really starts at 63 Hz region. Where is the sub located right now?

...of course the Zeus mids sound good! Look at the signal feeding them! :)

Your mid and tweeter are so on axis I do understand why you need to dial down the signal.

How close are we to getting that mid and sub in for you?

The Bachuka it's in the trunk right side facing back.

Yes, I know our Head Units are amazing! The signal makes any thing sound great!

This weekend the IDQ will replace the bachuka with a sealed .95 cu.sf enclosure

Some body is going to build the flush rings for the L6s so I'll start building the kick panels soon.

The piece I have may help your low end with those Zeus speakers. It's a little piece from Waves Engineering that uses an algorithm that recreates a phenomenon that fools your brain into thinking that the speakers are reproducing lower octaves than they actually are.

It doesn't really work for my application.

D,

What you need to do with those rings now is either put in Tee-nuts or thread-serts so you don't tear up the MDF. OHH! Also, have your man notch the top outside of the trim ring so when you glass, you can have a place to staple the fleece to make it even after you glass.

Could you be more specific, I don't get it. Maybe it's my English

Like this:

Notice how there's a notch on the outside edge of the woofer enclosure? It allows you to staple the material that will be resined so when you start finishing or building up, it doesn't break from the edge. It gives you something to build up on.

It's little tricks like this that make one a better fabricator. Bet some haven't thought about that...

Thoughts?

Oh, nice effect on the picture there!

You see where the staples are around the outside of the trim ring there? NOT the fiberglass...but the upper ring of staples. That is actually an 1/8" notch on the outside of the trim ring put there purposely so I could attach the fleece and still build UP not down after sanding. Do it the other way, without the groove, and you'll find that the glass on't be even.
