i'm seeing $69.99 as the median through other reputable vendors (i.e. summit racing), and $59.99 to $69.99 through some shady ebay vendors. this is all sans shipping, so i guess the real median is $80 like you said. so "how low can you go?" haha.

at the same time? Or are you meaning that one at a time but someone owning both? (I'm a little slow sometimes) |

Where is the Ecometer made? A quick check on Summit Racing web site lists a meter I have not heard anything about. Called the Bully Dog Watch Dog Monitors. Also missing information where the monitor is made. In the $250+ range. Available in black and white face. The Bully Dog is a programmable type display.

[QUOTE=R2D2;351354]My instruction sheet says it's made in Sycamore, Illinois.
LOL. I never would have believed as a teenager that one day I'd own a Japanese car outfitted with American electronics![/QUOTE The maker of the Ecometer sent me a email saying the gage is assembled and programmed in the USA. Which implies that the Ecometer is made of imported parts. At least my motor oil in my 2 Yarises is made out of 100% American recycled motor oil. Motor oil that started out 80% imported oil. Ooo well. Having 2 Yarises meant that I could not avoid the temptation to buy a Ecometer for each of my Yarises. I went to Summit Racing in Summit Ohio and picked up 2 Ecometers in person. $69.95 plus tax for each Ecometer. While the Ecometer can be calibrated to match paper calculations of fuel economy, I have not decided if it is worth the trouble to fine tune the Ecometer. Besides it's fun seeing the display show 117 mpg for a second when I let off the gas. It is a challenge to keep the mpg up when trying to accelerate. Keeping an eye on the road, while keeping a eye on my speed, while following driving directions from my navigation display, while keeping a eye on traffic, while keeping a eye on the Ecometer is a challenge. I guess I could use a few more sets of eyes. LOL. |

Do you folks ever worry you are really cheesing-off the drivers behind you as you accelerate nice and easy in city traffic? I couldn't seem to get the fuel efficient starts I wanted because I knew the drivers behind me were "not exactly" in economy mode. |

Screw em. Why should I drive "faster" to make them more happy. I drive the speed I'm comfortable operating my car at, which is somewhere in between slow and fast. If they were that much in a rush then they can pass me.

otherwise, i drive grandma-slow. another benefit in my case is added life for my coilover shocks and less rubbing. there's definitely less of an impact/bounce when i go over the road transitions slowly.

If it was really that pressing and important, then they would pass (pregnant wife, just cut a finger off, whatever) -- or indicate to me somehow that they needed to pass -- and I'd let them.

filled 7.983gals today, 2 bars left, what can i say, i was impatient to compare the meter to pump.
Calc read: 35.61 EcoMeter read: 36.6 Difference: 2.8% overestimate; it would seem that more miles driven, the more the difference in readout it is. I think ill have to tune it when i actually run close to empty...
