It's funny, anytime gas prices rise as dramatically as they have; I get more and more people asking me about my Yaris! Just this morning I had the gate guard at the base I work at ask me what kind of mileage I got.

I've also noticed that people are driving a lot slower to conserve fuel. I am experiencing less SUVs and pick-ups whizzing by me. Maybe this increase is not so bad after all...

Cheers! M2

Gas and distillate inventories are down . Gas is down 5.5 million barrels and distillate ( diesel , home heating oil ) down by 4 million barrels . This means gas / home heating costs will rise . Don't forget this is the time of the year when they switch over to the summer blend of gas which slows down production and usually has an impact on gas prices too . So , likely to see more of an increase at the pump .

What exactly is changed between summer/winter blends? I hear everyone always saying that ... but I've never actually asked what they do differently ...

Oh. Well.... Guess I could google it, but I have been pretty lazy when it comes to the internet lately.

. Wish more people would think that way . The money saved in gas could help boost the economy . You'd think people would've learned from the last spike and was very likely to occur again , but no .

Thanks! ^_^

Just as a friendly reminder. Buying a car to save on gas is NOT saving on gas UNLESS you purchase a straight line trade on the debt you owe on a car. Dave Ramsey says it best (copied right from his website) - http://www.daveramsey.com/article/da...mobiles/text1/

Let's say you currently drive a vehicle worth $10,000 that gets 15 miles/gallon. There's this $25,000 car you're thinking about buying that gets 25 miles/gallon. That's a $15,000 price difference just to get 10 more miles a gallon. If you drive 100 miles a week, that's about a $10 difference a week.

So that would be about $40 extra you're spending a month in gas if you stuck with the current car. A monthly car payment is much more than that! To get your money back at current gas prices, it would take you almost 29 years to save $15,000 in gasoline!

The math doesn't work! You'd have to drive to the moon and back to make it worth it!

Now granted... my wife went from a 22mpg car to a 40+ mpg car but the concept is still the same. We SAVED money going to the yaris and kept the same monthly payment. We just ended up taking the money that we DIDN'T spend on gas and put it towards the car

While on the subject of low-cost motoring, the Yaris has some of the lowest maintenance costs. The repairs, insurance... it all adds up.

Exactly! It is an inexpensive car that gets great gas mileage and has very low maintenance costs. I don't need Dave Ramsey to do the math, I know the Yaris is a very economical vehicle to own and operate!

It's just gravy that it's a blast to drive as well!

Cheers! M2

My last fill-up was 6,60$/gallon (1,24€/1,74$/litre). It's gone up by ~1,5% since then (in about a week).

.... .
6,60$/gallon that's terrible!!!
